It was starting to rust up.
Regarding the bead blasting I talked to the sandblasting guy about this since I was concerned about sandblasting thin gauge SL. Sandblasting guy told that he hears this a lot and it's rubbish, that the amount of metal removed via sandblasted in negligible and is not going to affect the structural integrity of the frame. Additionally I was told sandblasting will give a better surface for painting.
