But for over the ears there's only one pair I trust: Technics DJ1200s. Bought a pair in maybe '96/'97 and they lasted for ever with no sound degradation and little wear and tear. They served both as DJ and with mini-disc/cd walkman/ipod, before finally giving up the ghost last year. Replaced them but this time they only lasted six months before some chavs walked out my house with them, my ipod and my bro's xbox (it would have been more but I came back with the dogs in time to save the rest). The sound isn't sophisticated but it's loud, clear and has plenty of bass. And without peer or mixing, IMO
