  • VInylVillain, as I clearly stated it is only my opinion, I do not expect you to change yours. The thing that confuses the fuck about me is why you care about your family history? Does your being a blood descendant of someone make their plight more intriguing or more meaningful than the hardships lived out by everyone who has ever been alive ever? History is a fascinating thing and can teach us a lot but that's a generalisation.

You say "and whenever i am down i remind myself of the shit they had to go through and remember i have a pretty good life". Are you only comforted by not living a life as difficult as their lives?

Personally when I'm down I remind myself of the suffering addicts through the ages and the world, or the torture inflicted on Africans by the slave trade, or the annihilation of the American Apache by the european oppressors. I am not descended from any of these people but it doesn't make their stife any less real.

My point, is simple, for me I do not understand why people are obsessed with their own heritage as I class myself as a human being. Race/creed/religion etc have no baring on this. Everything, good and bad, that has ever been borne out by a human is intrinsictly linked with all of us.

As for this comment, "Disagree with DW on his choice of graphics if you want, but dont make the fact that he is proud of where his family comes from, no matter how long ago, a reason to hate." if you read it back I didn't mention the graphics at all. I have infact made no comment what so ever on that particular of DW's bikes.

I agree with getting on with the bike porn though.

The graphics comment was a generalization, not aimed at anyone in particular, sorry should have made that clear . . .

I totally agree with what you say about the hear and now, and have no intention of trying to change your opinion,

I was lucky to have a privileged upbringing, ans as a result was surrounded by a lot of fucktards at school who thought that their family history was the only relevant matter, and sadly still do.

I think a lot of people find inspiration in their history's, and whilst this should never be used to judge others or raise yourself up above others, it can be of great personal benefit.

Although i don't know you, i always respect aht you have to say on her because whilst i may have a different opinion, your opinons are always valid, researched and worthy of consideration, thought out rather than reactionary, and often worthy of further consideration
