  • Heard stories of Claus and a few mates meeting up centrally after work, heading over to Richmond Park, doing a few laps then shooting back to East London. Figure a similar ride would make for a good way of maintaining some resemblance of fitness particularly now that time at Herne Hill will soon be a distant memory.

Keen to do this with some familiar faces but also at a reasonable pace, with company making the journey back a bit more friendly for those of us who don't live in West London...and for those of us in need of liquid refreshment, there would also be the option of shooting up to West Drinks.

Can't see myself doing this kind of thing for a couple of weeks due to various obligations but figure if there are others keen for some spinning.

  • hey gus
    im in.

  • They're not stoiries dude, they is fact! I know this as i go on these rides ( although last nights was little more than a frustrating wet, cold and windy drag around the park, rather than a good ride!)...
I'll be in for more rides that way if anyones going though.. Gustav cant remember if we talked on sunday?.. Met so many new faces.. I was on a black geared Ribble..

  • Dandy Horse, spoke briefly, i was the one riding the pale blue Bob Jackson

  • Nice one Gus, and yes, Paul, we talked about this on Sunday as we went up a hill near Westerham : you chatting in well modulated breaths; me hacking out panting monosyllables. I'll be on for every otherThurs only 'cos of work. So I'm good for Thurs 9th if you're going out.

  • dropout, you dropping out of wests??

  • i'm in.

  • I work next to the park and I need to get a lot more riding in this winter so I'm in.

  • @ Murtle, no I won't be dropping out of Wests. Wests is the big reward. I'll be dropping in for a lark after popping out round the park in the dark. and pacing Jim up the Hills....(perhaps).

  • good stuff, had me going there for a bit :)

  • Now i think about it i do remember the chat up the hill Dropout.. Ah some lovely climbing... Also remember speaking to you Gus, looks like there could be a nice turnout...

  • Never fear murt's. We'll never miss west's now we're all be just round the corner.

Dropout I'm gona chase you down and push you to spin down those hills.

  • The park is ace in the dark, once you get used to the dear running across in front of you..
Theres a possiblitiy this may have to wait till they've done the anual dear cull.. Think that starts pretty soon..

  • once the leg is doing better I'm in for this, mores rides are a good thing, and I need to ramp up the winter miles so come the new season at herne hill I won't get dropped like a stone...

  • Yeah you dont want to get stuck in there like I did last year. Those gates are high!

  • Yeah you dont want to get stuck in there like I did last year. Those gates are high!

did you not bed down with some nice deer? i thought you'd fit right in there Jim!

  • did you not bed down with some nice deer? i thought you'd fit right in there Jim!

Thats just it I did, then someone started shooting at me!

  • yeah sorry about that, i get a bit carried away after i've watched the dear hunter.

  • Good to you see you planning future bike life, Corny.

I think the cull doesn't take place till February. Right now it's rutting season no?
Can see Jim locking his new carbon drops with some snorting red stag.

  • feel slightly paranoid. one day you go for a spin in RP and the next thing you know its on the interweb on some obscure forum.
yep, been there more or less regularly with pips from work of which some also happen to hang around this forum. we will be there again by tomorrow, 1900 roehampton gate, first lap CCW second CW ...
most of us head back east

  • Just one question. Does anyone do it geared?

  • It actually started as a geared ride but now it is both with a strong inclination towards fixed in the last weeks.
But please bring your new ride!

  • I'll be geared for sure tomorrow, although am hoping to get the front brake sorted on the Holdsworth to run fixed in next few weeks...

  • Cool, I'll bring the new geared one for the the hell of it and then next week I'll bring the fixed.

  • Nice one, so are we provisionally saying we'll see you guys there at 7pm tomorrow, at Roehampton gate...
