I have had a standard Vittoria rubino on the back for about 6 weeks. I have been skidding on it and it is still ok (there is a small rip in it that I noticed last night but nothing major). So on the whole I have been ipreased with my one.
Having said that I will post in Epic Fail tomorrow after a huge blow out on the way home tonight.

do you not think it would be useful for people to share dissapointing experiences of products?
This is a bike forum after all, would be apt I thought.

could have put it in one of the many tyre threads????????
as opposed to starting another interesting thread! -

^^ Don't worry. Platini's the regional sales rep for Vittoria, that's all...

I've been running rubinos for about a year and love them, maybe just a bad batch...

Rubino Pro are great. Rubino aren't so good. How the fuck they split down the middle is anyone's guess.. maybe Mr Ribble left them outside for 3 years..
I've ridden the same Rubino Pro during L2P (600k in 3 days), Circuit of Kent (130k), Devil Ride (160k) and fuck knows what else.. no probs. I also run them on my 'slow' bike for thousands of kilometres. No problems. I also run them on the Cunster for months until I can see tubeage. No problems.
EDIT: Actually running the cheap as shit Rubino on the rear of the cuntster at the mo'. Pro on the front. It'sthesex.
Epic Tyre Review Fail.

hey hippy, have you seen the new contis I got given? 22c clinchers, been on them at the track.
nothing like the usual continental dross, I'm completely surprised by them
-

Nope, not seen them. But you know what I'm like.. if a company sells shite I don't tend to go back for more, even if their other products are "ok". Got a link to the ones you're talking about?
-
• #21

Budget option..
http://www.a-dugast.com/dugasteng.html
We have a lot of posts of blingin' parts (that no one will probably buy)
But I thought it might be useful to share bad experiences of bicycle products to help guide choices especially in ordinary day-to day bits.
Ill start with standard Vittoria rubino's
Bought from Wiggle, only ridden lightly for a few days and I can safely say they are totally awful.
They are stiff rigid tyres with no 'suppleness' to them. They feel very 'dry' to ride, skidding is like nails on a blackboard and juddery at that.
In the wet there is scarily little grip!
I was planning not to skid these tyres and leave maximum tread on for winter grip, but after a few days of light riding I noticed the tyre already suffering from cuts & cracking.
So I think Ill just buy a gatorskin for the front a shred through these.
