I went to court for that and got let off scot-free.
Mike payed the fine.

The magistrate just looked at the papers and said, "I don't know what you are doing here this morning".

Ha back!
you still spent the night in jail, which was equivalent of a fine.

still all of this is wank. you may be hard done by, but pay fine, move on.
