  • why the red chain?!!?

  • I swear there is a CHARGE PLUG FREESTYLE in there somewhere

The Black & White one looks very similar to some I've seen on this forum . All the numptys don't know the difference between a Unipack or a Bob Jackson etc as long as they look cool

  • ok, they're shit because they are cheaply made.

the novelty has seriously worn off now, you don't get a thread a day about Apollo full-sussers on MTB forums.

    I couldn't care less about the new ones/old ones/pink ones/ones with a-bit-o'shite-on

    +1

  • like polishing a turds thought

I can't smile wide enough on that quote...;)

    fashiontrendyhoxtoness.

  • Sorry, but I think they're fucking class. Cheap, cheerful, colourful. Now they have a flip flop hub, too. All good in my book - they're worth pretty much exactly what they cost, they're sold with 2 brakes, so they're safe...

These new colours will get loadsa people riding bikes, and all of us at care about looks with our colourful bikes will just have to try a litttle harder to look cool.

Good input and i very much agree with you,
and i have ridden one, and i don't really see all the crap that people say happens to them, like the chain flying off etc.

They're pretty good for what you pay for it but i can say alot of the price comes from what it looks like, and i must say they do look good.
also they may have improved the cheaper components that had been on the Unipack 1.0.

    I'd duck if I were you ;)

  • Yes, I too have ridden one, and I am still alive, with all my limbs. No children died, no cows exploded, no plants died, no cars honked.

    Id rather not...
    ;)

    SE Draft, £215.

that's pretty good for what you pay for, the unipack is not.

  • if someone wants a unipack just let them have one in peace. they don't bother me one bit, i honestly can't comprehend why people waste so much energy getting angry about them.

it's just a bike that's for sale somewhere that looks like yours for a fraction of the price...

oh yeah that would make me quite angry

Well not every one would know that, not knowing what the bike you shown is like i wouldn't be making any assumptions about which is better, even though it does seem to have better components, so it probably is better.
But to a newcomer to the fixed gear single speed world, the Unipack could be a place to start (even though it should be cheaper because of its cheap components), influencing more people to get into cycling.
And they're fairly easy to get, they are everywhere.

  • glad to see the zip ties are still intact.

  • And the 7 spoke wheels.

  • so the choice is one of them or a Bowery or an SE? hmmmmm yeah it gets more people cycling but surely its best if they are on safe bikes, saying that I would trust one of them over the last halfords/apollo bike I rode

  • so the choice is one of them or a Bowery or an SE? hmmmmm yeah it gets more people cycling but surely its best if they are on safe bikes, saying that I would trust one of them over the last halfords/apollo bike I rode

Well the fact that they' are literally everywhere in London now and they go for £150 now makes them every more bit attractive for first time Single Speeders, also there is a safety standard they wouldn't let them on the road if they didn't meet it.

  • there is a safety standard they wouldn't let them on the road if they didn't meet it.

Then how do you explain the bikes that go out of Halfords doors with forks on back to front and quick releases undone, and brake levers pointing up,and brake blocks hitting the tyres, and loose stem bolts....etc,etc ?

  • because the saftey standard is passed by **1 **bike not every one that leaves the shop, so companies make sure that they build a perfect bike for the test, then throw out pieces of shite after they have the little sticker. If you believe that every bike that is sold is checked then you are incredibly naive to the world

  • My point exactly!

  • I thought the 'safety' standard is merely a guideline, as long you have this and that you're allowed to sell your bike? (as in, if it got two working brakes, you can sell it, regardless of the quality).

  • I used to have an MTB from Makro... this is much better than that!

  • Its just a case of you get what you pay for.

As has been commented previously it appears more of these bikes are pushed around (often due to failure of some part) than actually ridden.

If you just want a bike as a fashion accessory for going to the pub maybe these have a purpose.

If you want a bike to ride around for pleasure and reliability these are not up to the job. One of the joys of fixed/single speed is the mechanical simplicity and reliability, the unipack fails utterly on the reliability and is too heavy.

Id like to call this a decent compromise since i have to be off now.
