With all the stuff that's been going on recently, I'm not sure if I want to post my geared project on here, but anyway, here goes...
Won this on eBay and picked it up on Tuesday - Dawes Audax, about 7 years old. In the flesh it's actually in unbelievably good condition - no chips, no rust and everything works *reasonably *well (for Shimano). Came with 105 clip pedals (which are now for sale) and a 7-speed 105 wheelset. It even has a Rolls seat, which was a nice bonus. Need to rebuild the rear wheel so it's 8-speed, but apart from that it's tickety-boo.
One problem though - I find it bloody hideous. The colours are awful, and I'm not a fan of the Dawes decals either. I want to strip it down and paint it in a battleship grey colour so it's less stealable, then add royal blue bartape and eventually blue Schwalbe Stelvios, but was just wondering what others think. Should I just stick with the existing paintjob (since it's so well done) or just strip and spray?
