I might be up for this if the weather doesn't make things too treacherous - competing the week after, so don't want to get hurt.
I'll want to be back in London by 4pm, so it looks do-able.
Of course I'd be thrashing myself up the hills, but taking it very easy in between :)
Will watch this space.
PS. I have a network card, so it'd be a 1/3 off fares for me plus 3 others.

Okay boys it looks like the hardcore group so far. it's like being back in fucking 'Nam! i'm riding this even if God pulls another 40 days and nights trick on us. No better place to be than the highest point in south england

I'm definitely out, the missus has booked a day's shopping in London with her sister. It's been sort of on the calender for ages, they've been waiting for inheritance money to come through!

Maybe in for this...
Need to clear it with me lady, and get the right sprocket on the hub.
Anyone going got a lockring/chainwhip ting - can't seem to source one from anywheres
Oh, and i need to be back in town for 4pm latest, so may have to bail early-ish.
(if I have any more lame excuses,
you'll be the first to hear) -
• #40
nice one shootthebreeze - as discussed last night you will be back in plenty of time and can bail early if needs be anyway as we are never that for from trains

Right - currently negotiating with the boss (!), and looking good.... I will be joining the Express at C. Junction.... For all you youngsters, be warned - this one is officially a veteran! As such, the trusty Holdsworth (48x16) will be left at home. So lycra and a 12-25 on the back it is.
Inclement weather may put the kybosh on this.
-
• #45
There aren't many 'youngsters' on that list.
Yeah, the weather is looking fucked.

i'm sick of weather forecasters. they said that weds thurs were write offs in london. hey presto i've seen more sun than i did in the whole of august. bring it on. me and jonny have climbed those hills in a torrential down pour with rivers of mud running down the roads (bit of back up jonny please). not only does it make for legendary riding , the stuff to tell your grand children about, it's doesn't feel bad until the train home when you start shivering and catching your death of cold, only to have to start pedalling again from waterloo :)
-
• #47
Yeah, fucking Michael Fish and his shower of harbringer of doom forecasters. They always tell you it's going to be worse than it is.
Get out there and enjoy those lovely hills in their full autumnal glory.

• #48
