What I really want to know though, is what I'm looking at here:
It seems to be the most posted image of the collider and I don't know what it is. Where is the particle tunnel? Was this picture taken during construction, and the particle tunnel actually now runs through the centre of the shot, or is it not even a part of the image?
I don't understand the physics of the collider, but I do understand what they're trying to do and how they're doing it. I just don't like it when we get bombarded with all these images of 'Alice' and 'Atlas' without any explanation of what they are.
