I was asking what you were saying "yes" to,
a) this has happened to you
b) I should go for the same build again
c) I should go for an upgrade
d) you were agreeing that I was lazy fuckerI deleted it, as it seemed a bit rude when the pictures appeared.

who built that wheel?
-
• #10
and upgrade,always
goldtec/DT 1.1/cxp33s.. bombs and proofs ain't in it.
-
• #11
too much spoke tension maybe?
Could be, but the wheels are a few years old and have stayed bang on true. Could just be fatigue.
-
• #12
Fatigue from too much spoke tension :)

They were built by Condor (cue howls of derision) and have been great from new.
Goldtec + DT Swiss sounds interesting. Are Goldtec's catridge bearing?
-
• #14
yeah, they're very good for road use, year round.
but you'll have to change your BB to a longer one cos they have a 45mm chainline
rims: you could also try mavic csp33, deep section but very strong, the DT swiss used to be shit, but they've changed them now, bit pricey mind.

I rectum you're right
-
• #16
anal agree with that.
-
• #17
Of course I'm right. I'm always right. Chuck Norris disagreed with me so I killed him. From that moment on he knew I was always right.
Um.. yeah. When are goldtec gonna make proper sized fucking hubs? CXP33 and Open Pro are both fine.

So whats the first choice BB to run with Goldtec's? I'm running Miche Primato at the moment - this could be turning into a drive train upgrade....

campag for miche cranks
but AFAIK, you can wizzle the dizzle a bit with the miche BB,so you may not even have to change
-

mavic rims are prone to cracking apparently, i had the exact same thing happen to my Mavic ones although i don't have a picture to prove it.
Velocity and Dt Swiss rims are less prone to crack... well, thats what a pro wheel builder said in his blog.
-
• #21
Yeah, tjhese jonny come lately's mavic haven't got a fucking clue.

willski, if you go direct to BETD they will build wheels without charging for spokes or the build.

Thanks for the link Kowalski. Thats 223 quid + P&P for Goldtecs on CXP33s (this includes 16 quid for black spokes - with black hubs and black rims it would be rude not to).
I'll pop into CONdor at lunchtime and see what they're quoting.

I recently had wheels built at CONdor.
IIRC building was £25/wheel, black DB spokes 50p/ea.
I think murtle got complete wheels from BETD, check with him.
CONdor offer their own version of the Goldtec, slightly different shape.

r u sure they are open pro's there is no reinforced eyelet?!? cxp33 or more shit than open pro's
Decided to re-tension my chain and spotted that my backwheel was way off true. Then I spotted why (see below)
...so it's new wheels time. Current setup is SystemEx/Open pros which have served me well until now.
The question is, get another pair of these built or go for an upgrade? and if its upgrade, what to? The hubs need to be minimum service as I use them year round and I'm a lazy fucker.
Also, as a point of interest, anyone else had a failure like this?
