Well I know for a fact that Beijing are getting rid of some of their venues. I don't think its that uncommon for host cities to get rid of their venues. I know that the main stadium for London is built as a mostly temporary structure - the extra bits will presumably be taken down and hopefully reused / recycled leaving a smaller and more practical stadium.
