I like your vid.
I keep getting asked "why no gears", "why don't you use spds" etc. As you guys have shown for a great journey you just need a silly idea, some bravery and spirit.
Its a fucking blast...
...spds though would have been good.

Excellent trip. Did you use the Hengistbury Head Ferry to get to Bournemouth?

Cant remember what the ferry was called but we did the Bournemouth to Poole, which would have been quicker to cycle.
When we hit Bridport, avoiding the A35 (major road) we tried to get on a boat to lyme regis... ended up taking a detour to marsh wood which was one of the best rides we'd done on the trip... epic hills and amazing roads and scenery (first pic). Detours rule!

Oh and Exeter wasn't a random choice we payed a visit to a friend of ours who we were both best men for... his wife gave birth to a baby girl the next day. Stayed for a few hours there then trained it back to London, for a well deserved G and a cider

Hengistbury head is the spit out to the east of Bournemouth and there is a ferry there from the front at Highcliffe. It allows you to ride all the way along the front into Bournemouth, most of which is pretty quiet with nice sea front scenery. Worth it of you're down there again.
Agreed, a tour isn't worth it if you don't detour. I added about 45 miles to a trip just to ride through the town of Dildo.

yeah a tourer... next bike... got my eye on one from Jos.
My lowlights:
- Spinning into lulworth, and watching ferris freewheeling down at ridiculous speed.
- Walking up Steeeeeeeepppppp hill on the way to marshwood.
- Lack of energy due to lack of food.
- Off guinness at the second pub.
- Not being able to stand on hills.
- Stopping to change clothes.
- Realising there was no where to stay in lulworth and having to go back to wool.
I think sometimes the lowlights are as important as the highlights. What doesn't kill you... makes you aware for next time you might get killed...
AND NO PUNCTURES!!!!!!!!
The hill down to lulworth cove (our usual sunday route), is proper steep can't imagine doing it on a fixed gear (my road bike spins out about halfway down).

Yeah steep som bitch, but our fastest section was the 3-4 miles to lyme regis crossing over the A35 and down to coast(mile 205)... fuck me scares me just thinking about it... bloody daft. Which i think we did in about 8mins... about 26 mph with cars, panniers, fatigue... anger!
