Just remembered I've got one of them too. The fact that I'd forgotten tells you how frequently I've used it.

there's a white Altura jacket on sale in Evans at the moment, I think it's 45 quid. I've been very happy with it and i recommend it - windproof and waterproof. I've had it about 18months and though I'd say it's probably only had medium level use compared to a courier wearing it it's still waterproof - and I've washed it with softener once, which you aren't supposed to do.

ha, softener?!? go in with the jeans :o

That reminds me. I once gave a christmas present to a friend that was a certain type of wash for waterpoof jackets - it apparently re-waterproofs them. I got it at blacks about £20... incase anyone wants to do that before winter hits

I got one of these for the Tour de France cyclosportive last year. Probably the best bit of kit I've ever purchased.
Trouble is, it packs down so small I've bloody lost it!

yeah nice one dogs, you mentioned this in the Great British Weather thread, think I'll buy it.

nikwax must be a range of waterproof stuff, as i has some for some leather hiking boots -

e-vent, goreXCR or the better softshell materials like gore N2S
expensive but worth it all the cheaper fabrics don't perform as well. -

expensive but worth it all the cheaper fabrics don't perform as well.I recently got some 80 quid endura e-vent 3/4 trousers and I have to say I'm not impressed with them at all. I still had a soggy backside yesterday coming in, and they hadnt dried by the time I had to put them on to go home.
Disappointed of Colliers Wood.

i've given up on waterproof trousers. good old wool trousers, wet but warm in winter :) , buy them big and shrink them down so the weave is more dense ;)
-
• #117
had you washed them then not followed the care label?
always use non bio then some e-vent garments say to iron on a low heat to make water bead up on the fabric.
or it could just be a leaky seam? -
• #118
This a bloody steal (if you're a medium):
35 quid only. I paid 65 for mine (on both occasions). It's light, it's waterproof, and most importantly, it's black, so you won't look like a fluoro fool. :-)

also prob doesnt help that they are a size too big for me and 'chafe' a bit.
I dont have much love for them, but until I get my fastboy fender back from Ezra I'll have to put up with it. -

E-Vent or Gore Pro Shell for chucking it down and extreme conditions
Gore Pac Lite for showers and mild weather - light weight/breathable
Softshell for very light showers (not waterproof as seams aren't sealed) and colder weather -

I've bought the Endura eVent jacket as its the only one I can find that fits my tiny size. All the other waterproof small sizes I tried on were too big including the Endura. They however do it in xs.
Pity SBR seem to not know what fast shipping is and I've been waiting a week for it.

yeah, that's the one i've got, couldn't remember the brand. it eventually did get a bit damp towards the end of a 50mi run in the pouring rain, but basically it was waterproof. if I'd had a longsleeve baselayer i wouldn't really have noticed.

Altura, quite cheap, always waterproof up to now, fits well.
Will probably buy another when this one finally dies a death.

I bought a light jacket from howies in their sale, and I'm well pleased with it. The material is called 3XDry, and it kept me dry so far. Seems to be sold out on their website, though ...
My Gill speed pro is eVent fabric and it's very windproof.
