  • the manager of action bikes in wimbledon rides an L plug, dunno how tall he is exactly but I'm guessing 5'11-6'0, he let me test ride his bike and I remember he was a good bit shorter than me, I'm 6'3.

  • I'm 6'0" have a 57cm road bike and ride a large Charge Plug.
    No problems at all.
Except for the damn bottom bracket.

  • Unfortunately I'm not sure of my inside leg, despite a desperate search of the house for a tape measure Iknow I have somewhere. However perhaps a large is the safer bet, and the cabin length can always be adjusted. Thanks for the help

I will bite though: what about the BB?

he's about 6'1, same height as me (i was getting the Charge slice bar and tapes, and he brought his bike out just to let me check the bar/grip out), I live only 20 second away from Action Bikes which come in handy sometime!

the L size is perfect if you're in the 6' area.

  • Cool, decision has been made, cheers for the imput

  • Well if anyone is interested I have a brand new Charge Plug Racer in a Medium for sale, with the reciept/ guarentee/ free service all from Evans.

Still has all the protective plastic stickers and price tag on the bike. It includes a brand new set of Easton EA30 bars. Its unridden, I don't want to see it go, but I need to raise some funds quickly.

    £470.00

    let me know.

    Cheers

  • As for the bottom bracet issue:
Had it for almost 1 year now (bought it mid-Sept. last year) and it's now creaking and clicking when I pedal.
Mind you, it does about 15 miles a day rain or shine, so that works out to 2500+ miles plus one heavy collision (bike was fine).

  • I go through BBs like stoners go through cake so that doesn't bode well. The BB is a bit of imperfect kit and I get the vibe that almost whatever you pay for them they'll go tits up before you know it

  • i've been thinking about getting a charge plug for a while now but i'm not sure whether to go medium of large either. i was just wondering if someone who has on could tell me the distance from the ground to the top of the crossbar (i really don't want to hop off and impale myself on it).
i would try one out but no one stocks them in dublin. thanks

  • I measured 81cm, had to use a crappy 30cm rule though as I don't have a tape measure. I might have a large for sale if the price is right.

  • I'm 5"11 and the Medium was way too big for me. Got a small and it's perfect. Woman in the shop said they do tend to come up big.

  • thanks a million for the measurement. mite go for the medium now though, that's a bit close for comfort.

  • any chance you could measure your bike bleak reference?

  • I just measured by medium plug racer and the top of the top tube was 82cm from the ground (to the nearest cm). I'm 6' (just) and the medium seems about right, maybe could have got a large though.

  • 6 1" and riding a large, very comfortable

  • Just remeasured mine and it's probably about 85cm. I am bang on 6' and I would say its a touch too big for me.

  • i rang the shop and the guy said to get a large but 85cm is way too big, even the 82cm is a bit on the big side for the medium. i'm 5'11'' with inside leg about 31.5/32inches btw.

I've recently bought a medium, I'm 5'10" and it's juuussstttt about the right size. If your legs are less than 32" I'd go for the small.

  • Go for the medium with a shorter stem. I think the stem is about 110mm?

  • hmm, i wish i could just have a go of one but i'm leaning towards the medium now i suppose. not sure...

  • I'm 6 foot, and got a medium about a year ago, after about 2 months I realised it was too small for me & wish I'd got a large. It may feel too big at first but you get used to it & realise it's the right size! Medium is too small for me, gutted that I bought it tbf.

  • right, i'm going to head up to belfast on wednesday or friday and have a go of it.

  • i'm thinking about getting a charge plug too.. shops selling for £440.. is that a decent price? i did want to try and make a custom but i never knew where to start. If anyone had any second hand decent fixed/freewheel let me know, i can't really afford shop prices.

  • I have a large charge plug, nothing mechanically wrong with it but obviously it's not perfect. How much do you want to pay?

that's a great offer, unfortunately it costs £65 to ship it over here
