  • Look amazing in the flesh too!

    That bike is sweet Teddy.

+1, that looks sweet, got a pic of the whole bike??

  • Very tempted by the W&S deal, just coz of the saving.

Is the setup that bad?? Dont know much about hubs (other than the ones I ride at the moment are shot to pieces!)

yeah 650 front rim... note the silly-short spokes. i think they're well beautiful.

  • I popped to BLB and picked one up yesterday, 700c non machined 32 hole, they look sweet.

Building my new rear with it, ERD is 557 if anyone is building their own.

  • Bootiful teddy, absolutely bootiful. Did you build it or BLB? I smell a white rear coming on. Ooo err.

  • Very very sexy, gutted I don't have to coins or need for new rims!!!

  • reckon they're powdercoatable? Want a yellow one...

whats this obsession for powdercoating EVERYTHING! Its like a kid just discovered his willy and goes humping and spunking over everything in sight.

You can powder coat an rim right, but most coaters will grit blast to prepare the surface where thin alumium can get chipped.

Prepare yo self, with some sandpaper. An then be ready to have to nitromors the hook/insides of the rims if the powders too thick. Its a lot of faff and will look shit.

Instead use the appropriate finishing, and go to a polishers or anodisers for more blingy results.

  • dude, u ever had anything powdercoated? the finish is more durable than anything else and most places do an awesome job

  • Interesting.

I may re-lace my phil rear to one of these... Or maybe get a 650 built up for the front.

  • ERD is 557

Thanks, just what I was looking for, I worked it out at 558 based on their profile, but I will go with that. Now whether to snowflake or not?

    Rep added

  • is that one of those rims from BLB .... the uber deep ones?

  • yes

  • good work... i've my eye on a set of those... does anyone know if have they still got a healthy stock of them? Roll on pay day!

I had a mail-order powder coating venture last summer.

Was going well till my ultra cheap courier went outta business.

  • i got mine from wheel and sprocket via ebay. But mine are laced to formula's, not the hubs you mentioned? The customs charge was a pain in the fanny but nevermind.

  • how much was the customs charge by the way?

    A+

  • how much was the customs charge by the way?

Customs charging for wheels works out like this.

    VAT @ 17.5%
Customs @ 4.7% (percentage set for bicycle wheels)
Parcel Force will charge you around £8 for handling

You should be charged the VAT and the customs based on the sale price excluding the delivery.

So work out the final price inc the above charges then add on the shipping.

  • thanks whizz

  • How about THESE for a set of deep V's? I don't know, but I think a smart person could actually make these look good?

    Maybe?

  • Fucking hideous.
Anyone who buys those is a cunt.
