I think obese people start off miserable so they eat to compensate. When I first went into recovery for alcohol abuse I was surprised to find out that I have issues with my self esteem. I then found out that so does my brother who was a street fighter right into his thirties and so does my half sister who weighed more than me at the age of ten. Whether these issues of self esteem stem from nuture or nature I can't really say for sure. However the answer each of these problems is a spiritual dimension that allows one to love oneself irrespective of what the world outside might think. Part of that spiritual dimension for me involves living a healthy lifestyle. i.e fresh food and plenty of exercise and lots of sleep.
