The weather in lots of Asian countries is too painful to even stand stationary in, let alone cycle in. Especially during the summer, when it's 40 degrees and 100% humidity, and the air-conditioned subways and buses are nice and cool. Also, I seriously doubt many employers in Asia provide shower facilities.
