Tynan, I can't speak for others, but I'm just guessing. Could it be that a forum like this has a community spirit, and even if dogsballs for example thinks I'm an arse (GrandArse to the wags), we still take part in the different personalities on here. We also contribute. My guess is a person that comes on here and all their posts relate to sales of their own stuff, seems to be "using" the community for their own gain. Roberto sells stuff and so does briankwan, but they don't appear to ONLY sell stuff, but take part in the community also.

I think you are probably right (?) - some kind of arbitrary moral reasoning (??).

Suppose you have some old camera lenses you want to get rid of, a quick Google brings up 'PhotographyUK.co.uk' - seems like the right sort of place, most of the forum members are based in the UK, it's even got a classified section, you - quite logically - think these people may well be interested in these old lenses, so you join up and post your lenses in the classified section.

Should you be unperturbed if you are told by the forum members to fuck off and take your shit elsewhere ?

My simple consequentialist view says that the forum members of PhotographyUK.co.uk have just reduced the amount of cheap lenses available to them at the same time as reducing the sellers range of places he can sell.

More business for Jessops and Evans all round.
