whereabouts on your horse would you put them?! they're from freshtripe.co.uk, in the 'shiny bits' section (how i hate the names given to each category on that website).

those from freshtripe are aluminium, wouldn't really trust them to hold the back wheel on.

dont be such a drama queen, the nut part of a QR skewer is made of plastic!

Me too ! It's a real pain in the arse to find anything on there.

He's right, you know, alu isn't so good for the rear.
Read this (on skewers, admittedly)

Re your skewer example - I doubt it's plastic where it clamps onto the drop-out. It just has a plastic cover.

no it's not, it's just coated in plastic, there's still a steel nut under there.
-
• #17
fuck it then. maybe freshtripe should have a 'wanky nuts' section. is it really just dura-ace then?
-
• #18
get the best ones you can, DA's are only £4 dearer than those, and will last a lot longer.
-
• #19
ok, done, convinced. DAs it is. thanks everyone. might have them powdercoated ;)
-
• #20
maybe should by a job lot of the dura ace ones get them all powder coated up ;)
-
• #21
yeah and we could get our cleats done at the same time :D
-
• #22
Or we could just spray them.
Flouro colours anyone?Meeeeow.

I'm nearing completion of my all black build (so happy how it's worked out) and just needing the finishing touches now. I've been looking for black track nuts but can't find anything. The closest I've found are:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=26599
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BNIP-BMX-Hub-Axle-Nuts-Washers-10mm-Lightweight_W0QQitemZ290305458431QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR?hash=item43978dc0ff&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50...but all are a BMX design I think (might be too wide for the recessed washer/nut area on my fork?), and also don't have an attached rotating washer like other track nuts I've seen.
So, are there any black track nuts out there, or should I just go for one of the above? Or the free option would be to break out the modeling paint and touch it up when needed. Hmm, anyone?

racist.
I need to replace my poor quality formula track nuts. I was hoping to avoid the 10-pounds-a-pair dura-ace ones, and then chanced upon these over at freshtripe. anyone used them or have any input before I get a set? i'm not particularly bothered about the colours as i imagine the anodised finish will become comprehensively scratched after a few goes.
opinions please, x.
