I bought the phils with freewheel/fixed. I never flip my current wheel over that has fixed/fixed. So I will probably not do it to much in the future. And it saved me a bundle of cash that I can spend on other fun things.

That Universal cycles website emailed me back saying they will not mark anything as a gift or as an item of low value, so be warned you may get stung by customs.

I ordered them from e-bay instead. And he would mark them down and as a gift :)
-
• #30
You get 'em from some fella in Coney Island, Brooklyn?
-
• #31
yeah, twelveicat, on eBay, it's the guy you told me about pistin! Good deal, I escaped customs, can't remember if he marked it down or gift or what...

the gift scam is a complete lottery...
-
• #35
how much is custom charge anyway?
-
• #36
Depends what they feel like! 20 - 30% of the marked value, from my experience...
-
• #37
no, it's VAT they charge you. 17.5 percent.
-
• #38
Plus admin charge...
-
• #39
Vat, admin and import duty.

Going against the grain here but I don't like the look of Phils, too chunky. Much prefer chunky but curvy - Goldtechs rock.

Actually, in this instance, much as I hate to, I agree with Dogs.
Phils are teh horn.
-
• #47
only profiles are better than phils, as they incorporate the end cap like goldtecs

I haven't seen them so couldn't comment. What's the beef with 'old skool' style kit on a newer non-lugged frame anyway?

I don't like those ribbed bits in the middle though. Phils still win.

These remind me of a pewter mug which is nice.. and those Gromada ones looked quite sexy but high-flange Phils again FTW!
^ not as simple as that. I need double fixed.
The freewheel is of no use to me anymore.
