Buffalo Bill, if he takes the post down, does that mean he will then be a nicer and more inclusive person?
People have a right to be prejudiced against others, but not in a way that can can cause harm or offence generally. He owns a business, so he's knowledgeable person, so he profits from his good plans and merchandise, but will pay for mistakes. That is life for all of us.
No, I don't think it will make him a nicer person.
I think he has caused offence, and although it could be argued that his comments may cause little harm, I personally found his post pretty unpleasant, if a little confused.
I am guessing that you have reported him to the police? If so, then that's probably appropriate, although it's not something that occurred to me.
I remember that he posted some picture of a model on track bike in velodrome, wearing high-heels, leg-warmers and a bathing-costume? I found that similarly crass, although not in the same league as this.
I should also declare an interest at this point:
I used to work for ZERO, his cargo bike company. Close friends also have worked for him in the past, and 4 of my friends are currently working for him. All of them would be disgusted by the article. Not least the Pole who used to fight neo-Nazis in Lodz.

Buffalo Bill, I have so far emailed and reported his company and website content to:
JCORE
Mayor of London
Commission for Racial Equalities
David Cameron
Diane Abbott
Keith Vaz
Baroness Amos
Met.Police Online reportI will be reporting his actions to the police in person, when I have finished work tonight. I have copied the site page, and the html original code as well.
This, unfortunately, is what I am prepared to do when I am angry enough.
BTW, Buffalo Bill, if you wish me to forward the emails to you, I will. Just PM me.

Just don't get greedy, stop when you have the carribean island, drugs plantation, diamond mine and army of minions. It's the desperate grasp for global domination through tax avoision that trips up most people.
It's worked out ok for the queen.

I am not a fan of the idea that your views (as nasty as others my find them) should be subject to state approval and review.
We seem to be slipping towards a place where your views, your thoughts and ideas should be reported to the state and it's various organs to check they do not breach any of the state set parameters.
Really the guy sounds like an idiot, he seems to be ranting against a broad spectrum of 'undesirables', so let him be an idiot, let him ruin his bussiness, but society seems to be moving towards absolute surrender of it's power to deal with each other, the first sign of slightest thing that troubles us and we abandon any societal power we may still have and seek a solution from the state.
I find this attitude far more of a long term threat than some idiot whining about 'provincial' drivers, drivers form Dagenham, Jewish drivers and drivers from Africa, the idea that if I express contempt for something like religion (which I do on a regular basis) that there is someone out there ready to report me to the state for my views.
Like I said, the guy sounds like a bit of n idiot, but you achieve exactly nothing by attempting to gag him by reporting his views to the state.
Fuck Diane Abbott and her hypocrisy on schooling, fuck David Cameron and Johnson and their monied privilege, fuck the lot of them, who are they to say what views and thoughts people should hold or express ?
Maybe I should be reported to the police for what I just said about Diane Abbott ?
Go to the police if you wish, get the state involved, but what is it you are hoping to achieve ?

For what it's worth, I still think he was trying to make a point about a lack of community spirit on the road. I agree that the way in which he phrased it appeared to be pretty racist, and tangentially I'd point out that racism on the continent is much more prevalent than we in the UK think - and is probably a lot more socially acceptable outside a melting pot like London.
None of which is to try to excuse what he said, because what he said was rotten. But I agree with Tynan - is the right response to try to get the law on him, to turn it into a bigger political issue? For one, doing that gives his views more credence and more airtime than they merit, and for another it feeds into a nasty authoritarian policing of people's speech acts. Isn't our disapproval bad enough?
I have to say I'm a bit torn over this whole debate - having been the recipient of some nasty racist crap in my youth (being half-spic in the UK in the aftermath of the Falklands) I sympathise a lot with people's sense of aggrievement; on the other hand I think this is a bit of a molehill-mountain thingummy. It's a crap shop anyway!

i said ages ago that Velorution was shit after going there the once, i swear, the vibes in that shop are waaay bad.
I definately picked up that i was no good for Velorution, cos i look poor in my scragly jeans and my north Walean accent. MY money is good as anyone's innit ?Anyway, time will always tell and in this case, it really has.

Your money is only any good if it 'raises the tone', young man. And being from the 'provinces', there's no way it could have done. Unless you were a pretty black girl, in which case you'd have ticked the 'tokenism' box.

A clarification has been posted on the Velorution website: http://www.velorution.biz/?p=1453
Everyone is always welcome to come to Velorution, even if it is just for asking for advice; although fixed wheel bikes are not our forte, we do offer a good range of reliable city bikes.
The gentleman who claims to have written several letters to authorities may have the courtesy to send a copy to me, at andrea@velorution.biz

There are many advantages in a multi-cultural society, but human nature is such that unless there is a leader who upholds moral standards, people drift to a low denominator.
Ugh.

It took me two minutes to find a group who is doing something positive about getting vulnerable groups out on the road. Jagonari Cycles, http://www.everyactioncounts.org.uk/en/fe/page.asp?n1=230&n2=6&n3=496&n4=84 are making it happen my friend and they are looking for donations. Hint : and apology and a donation will allow you to save face and hopefully lessen the damage to your business.
