i'm also looking into OTP and have contemplated a self build.
although my patience for a self build may be lacking.
the bikes i've considered and are:
SE Lager - £335 but has a BMX bb and currently none available in my size.
Charge Plug - £320 (i can get a discount on this one) but smallest is 56cm (which just looks too big for a 5ft 6in me)
Specialized Langster - £320 (i can get a discount on this one too) - wanted a steel bike but still weighing this one up. Not sure about the "London" look but it *might *grow on me.
Giant Bowery - £270 (i can get another discount on this one too) - heard it's heavy for an alloy framed bike and a lot of the parts look a bit gash.
Fuji Track - £315ish - haven't read a bad word about these bikes but will need to factor in some brakes.
decisions eh? anyway, if you're doing it through the cycle2work scheme its not really going to cost you £400 so be happy knowing if you make a mistake - you can rectify it the following year :)
