agreed we have all seen what timid cycling gets you in hospital, or worse.
Cycling aggressively and dominating the road is the only true safe way to cycle in London. If you are cycling on average faster than any other vehicles then you are far less likely to be involved in a crash, and road users will not generally, try anything funny with you.
This is a lot easier said than done though. Most people on this forum are experienced cyclists. But new cyclists, or those who are afraid, think it is perfectly acceptable to poodle along in the gutter at 5mph undertaking all and sundry. Little do they realise they are the ones far more likely to get taken out by lorries, pedestrians, opening car doors and general piss takers.
However, how do you go someone the confidence to cycle in the centre of the road and take no shit from anyone. Its not easy, I guess its just down to experience?
