Wheel Building Class

Decided to support my LBS (Brixton Cycles) and picked up some BLACK Grande Comp hubs 32 hole. Plus put a deposit down on BLACK Open Pro rims and BLACK DT Swiss spokes to be picked up on Saturday morning before the class. Really looking forward to this.

what's the dealio for thursday then?

My rims are here, hubs are hopefully on the way from the US (got them on eBay). If they don't get here on time I'll pick one up from Cavendish and sell the one that arrives later. Still need spokes and nipples, though.

And rim tape?

Matt's place (119 Shacklewell Lane, dalston) for 7pm. Bring wheel parts and beer. And spoke tool/truing stand if you have one.

Bleurgh, unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make this, I have a load of stuff that I have to deal with before I start my new job next Monday.

Hopefully someone else would like my Thursday slot.

Spokes sorted at Cavendish at lunch; they assured me that 288mm would be OK with 3-cross on my setup. That's 6-8mm off of what DB recommended - slightly worried. Hubs still not here. Bit more worried.

Thanks muchly Ved; they said 289 but only had 288. Looks like I should be OK with what I have after all, as long as those hubs get here...

If not then I'm going to buy one here in the UK and sell one of the ones from the US when they get here - I'll lose the saving but I really want to make my own wheels.

cxp33 are a deep section rim, i've used 290 on open pro's which are much lower profile. see how you go.

I've got a rare job interview Friday morning that's quite important.

I'm thinking Saturday might be a more sensible option but by that time I might do the build anyway as my old bike fucked it last week.

I'll have to think about this - really want to do this wheelbuild.

also, peeps try to get a hold of your own spoke tool, they come in very handy and don't cost alot.

i use one of the multi-ones with 6 sizes.

ok.... there's still a chance it will all work out but it's thursday morning and i am still waiting to have my spokes delivered. they could/should/will arrive sometime today.... fingers crossed.

I'm all set - hubs arrived yesterday and I have my spokes/rims/nipples/tape here, too.
