Ha . . some of the response to the build are brilliant . . . seriously i built this up as i wanted to build something crazy, totally impractical and with not a nod to any sort of sensible road worthyness, pure style over substance. I wanted to put every arrospoking HHSB'ing part i could find on it, like i said its built to put a smile on my face. This bike is never going to see a daily commute, just wheeled out on a sunny day for a bit of fixed fun.
I have no intention of using it as a daily ride with those wheels on, as i stated above they are for special occasions, i have plenty of other wheelsets for daily use if needed . . . in fact i am lucky enough to have plenty of other bikes for daily use, this bike is in effect the dirty whore of a mistress i go see for when i want to get nasty.
The sugino cranks are temporary, as i am awaiting some rather special carbon cranks with a solid carbon 52t chainring on it (again totally not suitable or warrantied for road use, silly me!). I also have a set of Easton EC90 Carbon track bars for it and NOS 105 Cage pedals that will go on when the carbon drivetrain arrives.
The HED has an SS on it as we (me and Simon at SBR) were trying to find a way of spacing out the hub to get a rideable chainline so i could test ride the wheel whilst waiting for the spacing kit to arrive, and we tried various SS which nearly did the trick but not quite enough to risk using.
Anyway if you happen to be pedaling through West London and see me in a heap at the side of the road after an innocent passing peds fart blows me and my disc wheeled HHSB over please feel free to stop and laugh with/at me, and should you wish feel fee to sling your leg over and give her a good seeing too as well.
