rob is right about the "paying attention" factor. I like the excitement of the end of game/mallet throw madness!
With the fence solution it's like.. "oh is the game finished? Lemme finish my beer/bagel/backward circle and I'll join in, my mallet is in the first hole of the fence anyway"
