Spoke cards

  • Hi all--

I'm sure this question has been asked endlessly before, but couldn't find it in the search tags.

So, having now flipped the wheel and got the chain-tension nice and tight on my new(ish) Condor Tempo (I know, I know, pipe-and-slippers present and correct!), I now feel like a proper-assed fakenger.

Am therefore in the market for more spoke cards to complement my Barack Obama one (http://www.obamaspoke.com/) of which a colleague kindly ordered a job-lot recently. Being Peckham-based, I saw a lovely Bianchi Pista chained-up outside Morrison's the other day, complete with LGFSS "Airfix" card. Wondering where I can get one?--I'll pay, natch.

Beyond that, does anyone out there know of other sources for this kind of bike-pimping, without having to actually take part in alleycat races (although that does sound fun... )?

    Ideas on a spokecard, please,

    Neo.

  • neo = new

    phyte = plant

  • phyte! phyte! phyte!

  • any of these obamas floating around in London? the colour scheme goes nicely with my bike even if I'm not sure I should be getting involved in American hope.

    I'll happily pay one dorra.

    yebo : you are fast.

  • you could go to the odeon cinema and get some free postcards they always have there.

  • the hip hop slave bike joke is wearing very thin

  • not sure that card would go down well where i live....

  • the hip hop slave bike joke is wearing very thin

+1, theres plenty of other stupid things that we do to our bikes, why not make a joke out of those rather than some made up story of slaves riding to freedom on a fixed gear bike, it just isnt that funny, compared to arrospok or something else.

  • someone do the obama card with boris on it.

  • Spoke Cards Are Gay

  • You could always make your own, then at least your spoke card is going to mean something (if only to you). Or you could host your own one person alley cat down your street, or maybe recruit a couple of local kids to race (make sure that you can beat them first though) then you can make yourself some spoke cards and have bragging rights.
Or just search the interwangle and print out what you find.
If you're that desperate just stick a couple of playing cards in there for now.

PS. I don't have any spoke cards.

  • i will sell you bits of london fixed history, real messenger/ fakenger handled spoke cards, the bidding starts and 50 dorrah

  • I like Luke's Tommy Cooper spoke card.

  • I used to put crisp packets / whatever else was in my lunch box in my BMX spokes.

    Pure tramp.

  • Get an iphone, stick that in yer spokes. maybe strap a longboard to yer back too

  • Cheese slices

  • come to rides and earn them!

  • go to the duke of york and nick some from the bikes outside.

  • Seriously the idea of a spoke card is to have something to take away after an event so your wheel becomes like scarp book. Traditionally they come from alley cats but people have made them for rides so get involved with things or design a card for a ride, go on it and hand them out to people on the ride. Better to have a card with a story / reason behind it that just for the sake of it.

  • heres a boris spoke card for you

but teddy has a point, some of the rides are worthy of a spoke card, if you ride with a Monopoly Ride spoke card or a London to Brighton - N2R spoke card, there is a reason, you took part stayed and did it, so just maybe ride your bike more

making your own is also fine just make sure that there is a reason behind it and maybe know when you have too many

EDIT: Tommy said similar stuff to me - great minds think a like

  • Last 4 mornings I have raced some dude to work, I'm currently winning 3 to 1 (don't know how, and yes he does seem to know we are racing), I might have to make a 1 and 2 card for that... Although I think it is much cooler to just pin it to the back of my shirt :-)

  • Maybe they will be available as prizes on the grand FGSS track day???? Unique ones

But +1 you got to earn them

  • ZING! good call.

  • Here's a nice collection.. enjoy..
