Hi justmouse,
Not much - but you could try making a complaint to TFL who licence black cabs.
https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/contact/pco/
Best of luck finding the wanker.

lets get these cunts off the road for fucks sake!
all this talk of "pricing people off the road" if they just banned the dangerous ones there'd be no congestion in London!
after having to drive the van for the last few weeks (you get the time to see what drivers are up to whilst you sit in jams) I've seen some really fucking abysmal driving, RLJ, oncoming traffic in middle of road when there's two good lanes, cutting corners, never indicating, speeding, dangerous driving, and they ALL use mobile phones whilst driving. The majority of cars are private hire minicabs they are seriously 70% of all traffic round here after rush hour.
there are more minicabs than people who need them, GET RID OF MINICABS Ken, er..BORIS.
if it's so important to set up road blocks to catch cyclists breaking reds, why can't these everyday menaces be prosecuted.
I hope you find and sort this cunt out, Mouse. It's high time the car became a privelage, not a right.
especially in London. -

Bad luck mouse wish you luck.

To make it easier for us to spot the cab, can you give us the make of the said vehicle, colour, etc.?

call the police

Black Cab, quite new. Middle aged white man driving.
Should narrow it down for you :S
-
• #8
Complete and utter scum (the cab, not you James..)
I hope something comes from this. RPM's right, get these wankers off the road to reduce congestion.
Makes me mad!

sorry for some reason I was under the impression it's those licensed mini-cab, toyota, peugeot etc. not a hackney carriage.

Hi
A very similar thing happened to me once whilst cycling in Portugal... I over took in the same situation and when the guy caught up with me he started yelling and telling me to pull over, as i was by myself in a foreign country and didnt really speak the language, i very politely ( seeing as it wasn't my fault!) raised my hand as an apology and carried on cycling.. he pulled up and side swiped me off my bike and this was the resultPlease make sure something comes of this as i consider myself lucky and i would hate to hear of someone being seriously injured because some psycho thinks he can use his car as a weapon..
cheers

Fuck to Defunk and same to Mouse!
Shit like this makes me so fucking mad! The cunt WILL do some damage to someone if that's his attitude.
Just have to see if the people in the car have in someway reported him or taken his details or atleast had a few stern words to say to him to make him think about his actions. I'd be livid if I was in a cab and the driver reacted like that -

Write to TfL, the Mayor, contact the police asap. Check if CCTV cameras were on that spot, get the film.
You say that the people in the back of the cab were distressed they should have reported him as well. Mention it to the police and TfL.
I can understand that spending your life on the roads of London as a job must be very frustrating but when you decide to endanger and hurt other road users well you need to seek help. By reporting him you will also do him a favour.

Yeah this is why I said it was a bit of a 'Falling Down' moment...The guy lost it. But he did use his vehicle as a weapon. And someone who earns a living from driving must not be doing that.Tom (Defunk) sorry to hear about that dude. It was just dumb luck that meant I wasn't the same or worse. (How did you drink that pint by the way - looks tricky :D)

my flat mates dad is a black cab driver but I highly doubt he would want to give up one of his own
-
• #15
Is it wrong of me to pity the black cab driver who have a Falling Down moment and lost his cabbing privilege that took him 5 years to get?
-
• #16
if it took him 5 years to get it, he shouldn't be in such a hurry to lose it.
Just because it's a high stress job doesn't make it an excuse to harm others.
-
• #17
Yes.
If he values it a half as much as you do, he might try and keep a hold on it.
I'm prepared to play rough as a rule, but some of these cunts scare me.
I'll hold my line when the law is on my side, but these retards actually believe they have a right to the square footage beneath our wheels that we do not.
Having been hit by a Black Cab whilst I was slowing for a red light and been told it was my fault for "pootling along" I refuse to have any sympathy for these individuals.
What they fail to understand is that the very underpinning of the privilege they seek, ie the whole Hackney Carriage licensed thang, is undermined by their inability to play fair on the road.

They're psychotic, no doubt about it

Contact the LTDA, and report the incident there.

how aggressive are you kids? in Philadelphia this sort of thing is taken care of with a u lock in the back window. You'd be surprised on how few locks have to fly before the word gets around. Having never ridden in London though, I'm not sure how well this would fly.
And having had been struck by a car on three separate occasions, never once being at fault I really get frustrated at peoples lack of knowledge when it comes to driving.

I think that's dumb for two reasons.
Firstly, you could end up seriously injuring or even killing the passengers. OK, the driver might have nearly killed you, but it's just plain stupid to react like that.
Secondly, it would destroy any credibility cyclists have here in London. We have a dubious reputation as it is thanks to crap newspapers like the London Lite, London Paper, Metro and sometimes the Evening Standard. Can you imagine what the headlines would be like if someone u-locked a taxi?
All the hard work over many years from a range of individuals like Buffalo Bill to fairly large organisations like the LCC would be undone within seconds.
@Mouse - I reckon call the police. Not much else you can do unless you know someone on the 'inside' who can look up cab plates. Good thing you came out unscathed.
-

it's unlikely you could d-lock a car window in London without there being 100's of witnesses, believe me, they'll see a nutter cyclist attacking a car even if they didn't see the driver trying to kill you.
the answer must come soon , though. the aggression on the roads is ridiculous.
as for taxi driving being "high stress" bollocks, how can it be stressful? all they do is drive a motor around a town of which they supposedly know every road off by heart.
if they don't like the traffic then maybe it's a slightly silly job choice? like the lifeguard who can't swim?
-

It is not just taxi drivers though - I had the same thing happen to me with bendy bus, he saw me coming in his mirror (on outside), then proceeded to sandwich me into the metal central railings? Very odd behaviour.

okay, so how come:
having had been struck by a car on three separate occasions
please make sense.
I want to track down this cab driver. I'm not 100% sure on the last three letters but I'm pretty sure he's C60 --- (Dale can you remember?).
Basically this bloke's a psycho - dangerous to any cyclist.
His beef was with me passing on the inside along stationary traffic. (It's my understanding that they highway code now allows this? Please let me know if not).
Once he'd caught up and passed I caught him again at a light. I commented that he passed me too close and his response confirmed my suspicion that he did it intentionally to put the shits up me. He said that I shouldn't undertake, people overtake on the outside etc. etc. etc. (The stretch of road - George St - has parked cars either side so is too narrow to filter down the middle- you'd go directly into oncoming traffic).
When I reciprocated by cycling in the middle of the lane in front of him i.e. giving parked cars enough space not to open doors on me (nor him to get round me without going onto the other side of the road), he accelerated around me at the nearest opportunity and tried to drive me into the pavement. He hit both my shoe / pedal and my handlebar - but fortunately I didn't go down.
The passengers in the back of his cab were visibly distressed and gestured to me that they were taking his details. I didn't have a phone or pen to hand so couldn't.
This guy had a real "Falling Down" moment. Someone who earns their living driving on the roads of London cannot be going round in this state of mind. He was gibbering on about having had enough of 'you lot' and that he just didn't care any more, didn't care if he killed me.
I genuinely think he's dangerous and will take it out on the next cyclist that transgresses from his understanding of the laws of the road.
If anyone knows how I can trace a cab driver with these sketchy details I have please PM me. If you could keep an eye out for this plate - it's quite distinctive and looks private - I'd really appreciate it. If anyone can get his badge number, I owe you a drink.
Cheers all
Mouse
