    So I'm a one-person polo team:) Solopolpalooza?

Theres no mention of the time at fuccit or the ecmc site. Infact, the only useful thing I found was the rules, which seem to include compulsory helmets...

  • Bricks for Brick Lane I say...

    touche mon amis.

  • they have not responded to my email ....yet.

it says 1pm on friday. i too read the helmet rule, although everyone in the pics don't seem to have one. if so, i'll put my hanky on my head!

  • I'm not sure which thread to post in here because I see threads for North, East, South, Up, Left, and London Bike Polo. So I'll just go for the general one.

We all gotta give Yorg big ups for being the Bike Polo Ambassador. I was really excited to see the buzz he got going over here and am proud to have made it into his OP! He's got some good stuff to say about you all. He says he also kicks your asses inside out. As polo continues to flourish over here in NYC I hope that those in Europe will be blessed with the same good fortune.

It's been great playing with Yorg, Max, et al. and if any of you ever visit lovely NYC I urge you to come find us for games. The door is always open!

  • hey Chombo! welcome - and thanks for initiating me to the game in NYC back then. And for displacing my ribcage in that crash we had more than a year ago.. ;)

(guys he is lying - I never said I kicked your asses... only the Parisians' asses!)

  • New rule or old rule?

Mallets in circle for next game or in fence in an orderly British que?

This came up at the end of last week.

  • fence idea is SHIT!
throw in middle, if too many behind back and count 6

  • yes. and keep the extra ones as priority ones for next throw-in. only fair way really.

  • i don't think the fence idea was shit, it was just a bit hard for people to grasp. You know, stick your mallet in the fence if a game is on, you'll be part of the next six that come on. The fact that people throw there mallet straight in when they have just finished playing just pisses people off who've be waiting by the side. If your gonna stick with the throwing in rule you should have to leave the court and wait to see if not enough mallets end up in the circle, only then can you play two in a row. does that make sense?

  • no, fuck off to sth polo!

if you only use the mallets in the fence
    a) people don't know who's mallet it is
    b) still have to take to middle
    c) play the same people
    d) most regular players will give up a spot if they play back to back/

  • you can only say fuck off to south polo if you grow some balls and actually turn up to south polo.
i don't mind what way we do it, but it does my head in when someone cycles past the centre and drops their mallet, in the middle when i'm waiting to play.

p.s. being from the southern hemisphere you should WANT to come to sth polo!

  • My biggest peeve is when people throw their mallet in the middle after they've finished a game with no intention of playing the next game.
The mallets in the fence thing would work if people would remember which mallet was theirs and even remember that they put a mallet in the fence to begin with.
I think that throwing them in the middle works best with back to back mallets thrown out in the case of more than 6 in the circle.

  • me too mike. in fact people not claiming a mallet as theirs but saying they are / aren't playing is a wind up.

  • So if there is already 6 in and you've been waiting to play, throw in and hope you get lucky.

  • indeed but then someone says, "i was waiting for the pink mallet and so and so threw it in for me, blah blah bollox". Oh well, it's no biggy.

  • a lot of newbies have been throwing the mallets in at the end of game and not playing.

  • sth polo blows, hence why i don't go! NE is where its at midweek anyway ;)

  • my . exactly, (not just the noobs either)

  • Hmmm i bet you tell people who don't like olives.... "no you have to try these ones, they're different, go on just try"

  • dogs never leaves his comfort zone.
