true to a point. Yes you've contributed to the site, but that alone doesn't give you part ownership, (it's not a democracy *or *a meritocracy).
But you said "I'm registered with this site, and one of the perks is no advertising." - says who? Ok it's a socio political issue, but really, how many ads will you be exposed to today? A couple of thousand? Do you boycott anyone and anything that might market / advertise to you?
FWIW I don't think there should be ads on the site, but it may be that they're necessary to pay for hosting etc. etc. And yes, I know the OT was about upcoming events, not generic marketing / advertising.
