there's a couple of us on the forum, but other than that and the guys from OCW prob not.
There are apparently 50-60 riders up here, but I have no confirmation of that. -

East Oxford seems to be crawling with ss/fixed bikes at the moment, I probably see atleast 2 or 3 go past my house each day (on a quiet, non-main road in Cowley), and a few have started appearing locked up at work sometimes too. Will be keeping an eye out for a red frame now though.

nearly got my bike jacked last night - two "urban" cyclists coming towards me as i was setting off - the moment they passed me they did the tightest turn ever (one of them fell off) and came after me - by this time id got my momentum up and left them to bite my dust :-D
stuff to keep you on your toes!

Haven't posted here before but been looking around the forums a while now.
Just thought I better post a suspected stolen bike I may have seen last night:
Was walking home down the Kingsland end of Engelfield Road, East London, around 11-15 - 11.45pm when I saw a pikey with a cap on a clapped out piece of shit riding along the pavement pushing a lovey fixie by his side with his free hand. Pretty sure he'd just nicked as it looked out of place.
The fixie in question looked like a 53-58 ( ? difficult to tell its size) frame and was black - no decals from what i could tell, and had bull bars with no tape, and was definitely fixed... look pretty sweet.
Does this correspond to any bike that might have been stolen last night by users of this forum who might have been in the area?
Sorry there's not a lot I could have done was pretty drunk and didnt fancy my chances... -

dunno if its because its bike week or sumit, but it just happened to me again on the way home tonight - these punks were bikeless though...
they shouted out "pap" as i rode by, stimulating my adrenal glands for fear of them having a real "papper" - no gains on either side in the end...haven't had a problem with it in the past, but the past was when i didn't cycle round at 1 in the morn...
this is upper clapton/stoke newington area; and its proper shit. -

Hi, new on here. But I had my mercian nicked on "The Cut" on Friday night. Still in shock. Was all locked up, and I was checking on every 10 mins while eating in a restruant across the street. I was due to do the London to Brighton on it yesterday. I believe its "king of Merica" type, colour is white and red, just had it all reconditioned with the idea of getting the frame conditioned after the charity ride. If you see someone on it, throw something at them. Any advice welcome

Sorry to hear that! What was it locked up with and how?

Had it locked to a bicycle steet stand with an extended cable locks wraped around and through the frame and wheels. There was loads of other bikes there at the time, loads of good steet lighting and I was across the street from it. remember it's not just a question of what lock you should get, but also a question of where and how you lock your bike.

do a search for locks, supreme. there's a few threads with tons of info on good locks and good locking strategy.

That was it locked up in a small village outside Canterbury, far from the eager theives of London. I tried Brick Lane on the Saturday, but with the train line works there was not a bike market to be seen.
what was his ebay ID? we can do some snooping on his real ID...
