that is just non-sense!
Corner-hugging silica rubber compound
14 months of aerodynamic development...the first windtunnel designed tyre
1-3 watt power savings
21mm width is the optimal blend of aerodynamics, rolling resistance and durabilityWTF

How is any tyre worth £65?
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360036731&n=Zipp%20Tangente%20Clincher%20Dimpled%20TyreWTF it's not even white?!

They are aerodynamic tyres. So what?
If you've got the money you can buy speed (and I'm not talking about little baggies of it).
It makes sense to spend money on that kind of thing if you are competitive TT'ing compared to spending £50 on some fucking stupid low tpi tyres just coz they're white. Hipsteracists. -

hey, come on guys: remember, the perfect shape on a leading edge is elliptical, not round. It's got the guts of a hardened road warrior. And the silica rubber compound? It's specially made just for the Tangente because, as it turns out, the gently scooped dimple patter is so much more crack resistant than grooved tread patterns.
This motherfuckin' tyre is harder, faster, stronger: just like motherfuckin' you.

Zipp Tangente Clincher. Because I'm worth it.

Maybe when I get the XC bike it will wear them ;)

Ok so I am heading to Brighton on Sunday and my tyres (Bontrager race light hard case) got slated in a previous thread. My question is, what tyres would you fit to an 18 speed Ribble tri bike with campagnolo khamsin wheels and why?
I'd like to go for a 23 over a 25 this time and they are a 700c diameter. They're clicnchers and the budget is about £100.

I read a whole marketing spiel about them earlier but wasn't convinced. Why do they top the list?

I have these a grade up on a race triple. Haven't punctured in 22 months constant use.

But for race only these:

I have ridden the same pair of Conti GP 4000 tyres for over a year with no puncture and wonderful grip, wet handling and dry feel... they're lovely.
Am replacing them with Conti GP 4000s simply because after 4,500 miles the old ones must be close to the end of their life. The 4000s are lighter, stronger, better rolling resistance and grip... but only come in black.
If you want colours go for the 4000, if you want as near to perfect as possible without buying the Zipp tyres (which would blow your budget) buy the black 4000s.

Great for crit racing, terrible for London roads.
Before the Conti 4000 GP's I went through 7 x Pro Race 2 tyres in a 2 month period. I don't think I'll be trying them again for a while.

I'm very habit driven. When I find something good I stick with it. I failed to learn that good for crits != good for roads. I've learnt that now.

My faves are Vredesteins Fortezza Tricomps. Lots of grip, particularly in the wet, and they corner like you're on rails. They also feel like they roll distinctly faster and ride better than the Conti GP3000 I have on another set of wheels (even if you don't pump them up all the way to 160psi!). They're also very good value, you can typically pick them up for under £20 on ebay. Don't last as long as the GPs but for a race tyre they're great, I like them a lot.
Otherwise, when I'm feeling flush, I'm going to try a set of Vittoria Corsa Evo CXs, which I've heard only good things about (apart from cost/wear rate...!).
Have a look on roadbikereview.com for more opinions.

Doh, just noticed you've probably already done the ride to Brighton! What tyres did you end up getting?

Yep - all done!
I used the Bonty's in the end and they were fine. The first 15 miles took 2h15m and then the next 40 miles took another 2h15m! Bloody pedestrians.....
There was only one occasion when someone overtook me and I got him back when he stopped at the top of the Beacon. I never put a foot down, except when the whole thing was stopped for yet another crash, so I'm planning to enter some serious races now. It looks like I am gonna need that set of Conti's! Thanks for all the input boys and girls.

rubino pro folding £13 at probikekit (down to £11 with purchase over £50)
Anyone got any recommendations for a decent set of tyres that are super puncture proof?
