I am running stronglight + goldtec.... bb is 107mm.
I'd be lying if i said i totally understood chainlines, but the setup was done at london fields and i trust they know what they are up too ;)

nice one, thanks.

used to ride the same........the bb spindle lenght was 109 and it was perfect... or a mm shoter or longer.....doesn't make too much of a difference as it's only half a mil on each side.....stronglight cranks was really shit though as the crank wasnt really cocentric so the chain wasn't evenly tight ........but yeah maybe more expensive chainring and cog id an option

G'day Chaps and Chapesses
Anyone run Goldtec with Miche cranks?
Miche recommend a 107mm BB for a 42mm chainline, but Goldtec are 45mm (supposedly) so I should get a 111 or more?
if anyone runs this set up and knows what BB they got, I'd really like to know,
cheers comrades!

miche + campag record 111m + goldtec + EAI = MrSmith
Miche (Condor-branded) + Miche 107mm (cups adjusted 2mm towards drivechain) + Goldtec + EAI 1/8" = eeehhhh {46mm chainline}Hamster...pardon the silly question....what is the difference between miche and miche [condor branded].....are they significantly different?.....i am 'winning' an ebay bid for miche [condor branded]....would not a campag 111mm [centaur]....not give 45mm chainline?
-

Nothing, the Miche Condor branded cranks are just Primato that are black, and the chainring has different graphics on it. After my set got bent yesterday I've replaced them today with the Condor branded ones, and can confirm they're identical.

I'm putting together my first fixed-gear (a conversion of an old Armstrong Moth frame) and am thinking of running a Sugino RD chainset with a set of 'Goldtec on Open Pro' wheels.
The matching BB for the Sugino RD is the Sugino 103mm, which by all accounts gives the standard 42mm chainline. But Goldtec hubs have a 45mm chainline, so I'm trying to make sure ahead of time that I get the correct BB to square with this.
I see from the transmission database that there's one example of this combo:
Sugino RD + UN53/107 + Condor Goldtec + EAI= hamsterIs 'Condor Goldtec' the same as Goldtec from betd, in terms of chainline?
I'm new at this kind of thing, but if my understanding is correct, wouldn't a 109mm BB be right to give a 45mm chainline, if 103mm gives 42mm? Am I missing something that makes the 107mm correct?
P.S. I hope resurrecting old threads is OK here. This one seemed sensible for my questions.
Thanks.

111mm

yeah 109 would make it perfect, but my 107 is close enough for me.
-
• #18
I run a campag record 109mm with my goldtech hubs and it is spot on
-
• #19
109 is symetrical and 107 is assymetrical. basically the drive side is the same length. go the shimano 107
-

A campag record is definitely not on the horizon given the price.

I've got a shimano 107 (runs well, not sure how new it is because it was given to me for free) and a 110 (almost new) and I promised to give one of them away on here ages ago so you can try them out and take the one that fits best, if you like. I'm in E2. Or I can post you one of them for the cost of postage (£2).
dogsballs, is right, the 107 seems assymetrical, I think there is only about 1mm difference between the drive side of the 107 and 110.
EDIT: I wonder if the drive side length is actually the same on both - I'm going to measure them tonight. -

My Mate has just purchased that lovely Mike Kowal frame, forks etc from Gus. It came with a 111mm campag record BB ( he thinks ). Would Miche hubs work with this. If not any cheapish alternatives?

107

I checked: the drive side (from where the shell would meet the cups to the end of the axle) is the same on the shimano 107 as on the 110 so would give exactly the same chainline. I must have been totally kidding myself when I thought switching to the 107 had slightly improved my chainline.
So, Krakow, if you want a 107 you're welcome to mine (only 3 careful owners).

i am using sugino 75 cranks, goltech hubs, phil wood sprocket and the phil wood BB 110.5 but it is adjustable to get the perfect chainline
anyone run goldtec with stronglight cranks?
stronglight recommend a 107mm BB for a 42mm chainline, but Goldtec are 45mm (supposedly) so I should get a 110 or something
if anyone runs this set up and knows what BB they got, or anyone just got Goldtec experience, I'd really like to know, cheers!
