  • I've lost 6.5 stone since I started cycling again two years ago, it's a great way to loose weight.

Bloody hell, that's a whole Jimmy Cranky! Well done chap.

    :)

  • strange question but...

    ...are you Boris Johnson?

  • Boris has poor people to wash his dishes surely

  • Boris has poor people to wash his dishes surely

Indeed I do. They had the day off for their inoculations, I don't mind them being poor and eastern European but I can't abide germs.

    :)

  • So, been out on it brakeless yet? 'Fess up Son of Uden , bet you have! ;)

  • Not yet as that would be jolly naughty. I might have to test the saddle height tonight though if I can get out of work at a humane hour...

Must admit I'm very tempted but the back wheel is off at a slightly odd angle, as it sits between the seat stays it's further over towards the sprocketless side? This was already bolted in within the box, so not my wonky spannering...

  • good work vanuden, i must agree with sano, that is a nice looking bike - i can't believe you've resisted the temptation to just straighten up that rear wheel and take it for a slow spin round the block

  • respect BillB and Ste_S on the weight loss thats some serious effort going on there.
VanUden. I have a front brake you can borrow until yours comes but it needs brake blocks. PM me if you're interested.

    (no lever though)

  • I've got a lever you can borrow

Oh, and while they get slated to shit for hipsterness, deep v's are strong as all hell. Not the lightest in the world, but strong

  • Thanks very much for your kind offers gents, I may well take you up on them if I can't get what I'm after online. Took the bike for a spin yesterday just around the block (albeit on half flat tyres - cheapo, crap, plastic pump). How weird is trying to get one foot into a strap and cage while it's going around and you're pedaling with the other foot?! And then corners, remembering not to stop pedaling because if you do the bike starts jerking! And braking by applying pressure through the pedals - that's actually quite satisfying but still odd!

me too, I went from 16 and a half stones to just 12 stones in half a year due to riding fixie.

  • me too, I went from 16 and a half stones to just 12 stones in half a year due to riding fixie.

If I can get down to 16st this year I'll be happy...

maybe I need to stop riding fixie to the pie shop????

  • And stop filling your water bottle with Special Brew ^

I'm aiming for 5 stone weight loss from cycling. Have lost 1 stone in the last 4 weeks just from eating sensibly and walking loads more. Fat bastids unite!

    :)

  • move to japan.. ive lost a stone in 2 months, simply by having rice at least once a day. its not as fun as cycling though :P

having an 800 calories a day diet help massively too, I lost 2 stones in one month due to that (required a lots of willpower thought).

  • 800 calories!!! my god... thats 8 pack of crisp... :(

  • jolly good!

  • ha, that's like 2 cheeseburgers. you had the equivalent of 2 cheeseburgers a day, for a whole month.

    you sad bastard.

  • is that a transcript of your job interview for 'people who care' lpg?

    chapeau to your dedication edscoble!

--like to see how some of that lot would cope with being denied their KFC's --

actually 4 months on 800 calories.

you has no idea how much nicer it is to able to cycle 10 miles without becoming a walking waterfall of sweat after losing 4 and a half stone.

  • Yes but only if you go for the 'hipster' option.

    :)

ain't nuthin hipster about brooks saddles, matey.

    enjoy the bicycle

  • i got mine a week ago, its my first fixed, i put it together and cycled 30 miles on it straight away, i have no patience, i needed to take it out! i will get a brake soon.

When I'm in training mode I eat that before 9 in the morning. That is some serious starvation!
