mulesing. not ideal, but better than the alternative (sheep infested with maggoty arses). there you go, a utilitarian ethical argument.
the flies are fucking brutal in rural australia. go and spend 10 minutes on a farm there and see for yourself. the farmers don't do it just to be cruel, it costs them a lot of time and effort and they do it to prevent their sheep becoming diseased.
but this is a cycling forum, and not the place for pointscoring about each other's ethical choices. play on.
