well, all coastal towns have a certain toughness about them, it's part of the english charm.
unfortunately the fish n chips and beer isn't usually that good.
to be fair I haven't a clue what hastings is like these days, I've rarely visited the place. maybe it's all ponsey wine bars and gastro pubs?
