Bike arrived today
this will be interesting.
Rear hub may need to be swapped as it is freewheel only.

25.4mm seat post...Please say it came with brake?
-
• #281
it came with brakes, mike set the front brake up and noticed that brake pads didn't touch right.
then we spotted the brake is atually crooked.Video or photographic evidence is needed, I have neither one of these things.

just had one of these in the shop today. those welds look awful. if the frame breaks, my guess is the dropouts or the seatstay/seattube welds. fuckin horrible. and what's this business about the rear wheel? did you try getting the freewheel off? the one i saw didn't have any grooves to remove the freewheel...

I'm going to try bring the bike down to polo on sunday then get it to jos from there.
pilky i guess don't worry about the money there is already enough to cover the bike and extra. -

This thread made me join the forum, wish I could of been in on this.
Anyway what happens say if 2 or 3 skid stops aboard the maiden voyage the rear wheels drops to pieces, whos gonna fix it?- need to put the whole thing through a week + this should definately be documented, i want smiles all round because unipack quotes ''the novice rider will enjoy it: the courier riders love it.''

give us pics soon pleeeaassse.

it's set up as singlespeed only now, on second looks at the hub it is freewheel only so can be ridden with suicide hub hmmmmmn. Freewheel will be a bitch to remove as well. will mean destroying the freewheel and screwing it off by the looks.
On one have a 24h hub for £15....
-
• #290
don't change the hub, it would mean that the bike would have a back wheel that was built properly.
I vote take it to someone with some welding gear and get the freehweel welded up. Weld on a BB lockring too, that sucker won't be going anywhere.
-
• #291
surely for this exercise to be valid the bike needs to be kept as 'stock' as possible?
-
• #292
yeah this is true, basically provided it's not pissing down on sunday i will bring it to polo,
everyone can have a play then or something. -
• #293
I know I haven't paid, yet, checks in the mail, but
+1 to Joachim, we shouldn't be fixing it, since we're supposed to be testing it to destruction, if we start working out the kinks, making it more durable, it defeats the purpose of the exercise. -
• #294
bike has last 6miles so far without any problems.

nope it will still pop off.
-
• #296
+1 leave it stock so the test is valid.
-
• #297
suicide but locktight the cog and hub to fuck
-
• #298
whats all this talk about? read the add. it says " The best thing about these bikes are that they've got no gears"... good luck. i'd love it if jos had to fred flintstone this bike round all week cos it had no gears. but still, i do love this whole thing. wish i was a local to come see it on sunday.

You're joking right? Your chain would snap before you broke the welds if you did it right.
-
• #300
not joking, seen it, head about, seen it again. the anarco diy kids around town have a MIG welder and keep doing up free wheels and them breaking them.
Pedant point, but Mouse and I buy our furniture from Linley in Chelsea - nothing so plebian as Habitat. And none of that secondhand tat Sothebys sell....
