  • They're basically the same length - 25 miles. Bognor is about a mile further, if anything. I've done both fixed.

    Bognor route is quite well signposted (NCN1), flat as a pancake and pretty dull. Eastbourne is a nice ride, especially if you just stay by the sea. Up and down over the cliffs, a dip into Newhaven then a pig of a climb up the first of the Seven Sisters on a narrow road the other side of Seaford. Quite busy that stretch, but preferable to turning left and following the Sustrans route inland, which is what I took on my fixed. Haven't attempted the hill on my fixed. I imagine I would have to get off, but then I am riding a 82" gear.

    Are you planning one-way or the round trip? If it's one way, I'd make a decision on the morning depending on the wind!

    Am tempted to join you. Let me first work out if I'm cycling to Ardingly on Sunday for a swimming lesson (don't ask!)...
