Just got back from Manchester and what an amazing day of racing yesterday. Wiggins and Cav were just unbelievable when they decided to make the lap up and Hoy is just a powerhouse on wheels. Seeing these guys riding flat out and just a few metres away is an impressive sight. The speed is just mental.

If you get the chance to watch any racing at Manchester then go , the velodrome is such a good place . You can do taster sessions and clubs can hire it out i think.........LFGSS day out anyone??

Hardly seen anything in the papers myself. I think as a nation we prefer our sportspeople/teams to put in a brave effort and go down fighting than to actually win stuff. Shame...

I was having this conversation with my friends in the pub on Saturday night. The efforts of our cyclists really shows up the footballers for what they are. Don't get me wrong. I love football, but most of the players nowadays are just a bunch of overpaid prima-donnas who wouldn't recognize real effort and achievement if it slapped them in the face.

The media loves jumping on bandwagons. All of the above meant that the sports got huge amounts of press afterwards. The cricket and rugby teams did get hopped into when it went tits-up, granted.

I don't understand why they haven't gone berserk about the cycling. Britain dominates and a lot of the titles are defended successfully, not just one off tourney wins.

But is it a mainstream sport? I think its a huge achievement for the team but I'm not sure it many off the 'general public' will be that interested...

Think if they do the same in the olympics it will get a load more inches in the papers
