so when's the next ride then chaps?
-
• #153
when it stops raining i guess ;)
i'm away for easter but weekend after...
-
• #154
could work for me... maybe a few laps of the ghettodrome then off up the downs via a pub somewhere.
hows that sound stormy and lewis?
-
• #155
I still haven't made it to PP for a spin round, weather has been crap and I've had a dodgy back for a couple of weeks, be keen to meet up for a few laps, doubt I'd make it to the downs afterwards, I normally need a lie down at my age
-
• #156
Don't worry stormy, I'm running a stupid high gear and really unfit, so don't worry I'll be keeping a slow pace.
-
• #157
Doubt I'll make it for the L2B which is stickied at the moment but do we fancy a bit of a welcome party for the chaps?
-
• #158
I'm down in brighton (again) this weekend. Do you guys do critical mass or is the brighton one a waste of time?
-

Object I'm down in brighton (again) this weekend. Do you guys do critical mass or is the brighton one a waste of time?
depends on how cold and wet it is. this time of year, doubt it'll be big.
think i'm in ireland for the L2B so won't be able to help out with a welcoming committee :(

• #160
Object how does a ride saturday sound? maybe a bit of world cup inspired ghettodrome action..
-
• #161
I'm still trying to decide which bike I'm bringing. The friend I'm stopping with is working on Saturday daytime so I'm tempted by the mountain bike for some south downs off road fun.
That said I love my fixed and if I bring that I can ride home on Sunday. What's the Ghettodrome action likely to be?
-
• #162
we've not all been down on masse yet but it's an old tarmac sort of velodrome type thing http://www.runtrackdir.com/details.asp?track=brighton-pp
There might be a few runners/children though, but if that's the case we can always wander off to some good roads that run through the downs.
I know Elvis/Paul was talking about going out on saturday... what do you reckon?
-
• #164
Ah. I thought it may be an actual event rather than a jaunt to the preston park velodrome :]
I think the best thing for me to do is judge it by the weather on Friday night. If it's not too bad I'll bring the fixed. If it's wet I'm bringing the muddy bike.

• #165
at the mo the weathers not looking too promising
-
• #166

and 'try the track' sessions start next wednesday. hopefully might have my bike ready for the wednesday after.
-
• #171
Think, def going to give this a go, being whipped by 60 year men and 15 boys is a distinct possibility though

Hey fellow Brightonians,
You can add my fixie to the list... a white 753 frame (possibly Raleigh Special Products), with cowhorns. Nothing too jazzy -- don't want to tempt the nasty people. I forget the ratio...
Anyway, we should definitely do some Brighton fixer meetups. I've set up a Facebook group to aid communcation, and post events against.

I do a morning burn down to Saltdean on the undercliff (naughty) a couple of times a week, although I might give that a miss for a bit until they get those stones cleared... I had two simultaneous flats last week. At least it was sunny...
I second Baker Street as a great shop -- they definitely exhibit tenderness towards the fixie. Disclaimer: I used to work there.

Nice one Elvis!
Yep - the track looks fun. I'm ashamed to say I've never made it up there... I'm definitely up for it this season, and will try to pop up there for at least one of the 'try the track' sessions in advance of the racing.
A.
I spose it depends on the numbers if there is only five or six of us, we're not really going to be able to deter people whether we've filled in the paperwork or not. So in that case I reckon just chance it on a time it's not so likely to be busy.
If we think we might get a few of the london lot down and are looking like more people in total it's prob worth go through the red tape in case the park people try to kick you off
