just for the record, i watched a programme that convinced me that plastic coated d-locks, like the kryptonite ones are the hardest to get through. even those really big chain locks (i don't know what they're called) can be cut in a second with the right equipment. Apparently the only way to get through a d-lock is by picking the plastic off and spraying it with some chemical (i forget what its called) to make the metal brittle before smashing it apart. just getting the plastic off takes ages so i think a couple of these are the best deterrent.

I've heard of a few ways to break d locks but theres a high chance of wrecking the frame doing it. My mate once lost the key for a d lock that was round his neck, after me explaining how we could get it off he decided he would just wear it for the weekend mountain biking until he got home and use the spare key.
