  • those have very different drop outs from what pistanator's has. something is verily strange.

  • Perhaps they made a deal to buy up a batch of deadstock Coppi frames and then had track ends fitted to them...

Not that it matters since it's a really nice frame.

  • hassanr those have very different drop outs from what pistanator's has. something is verily strange.
Pistonator's frame has what looks like the older, long campagnolo ends. Those frames in the adverts look to be columbus, or one of the many copycat ends.

I really like pistonator's frame, I think it's beautiful. The tubing is awesome! It's just not a true-track frame and in my opinion it would be more suited to vert, semi.horiz. or short horiz. dropouts and gears (campy c-record of course!).

    Then again, I'm sort of a retro-grouch.

  • dogsballs Ok, i may have to apologise, as they have these on their website. but these have top tube brack guides, something doesn't make sense!!!!

They are different to mine, mine has triangular tubing and different decal/logo on the headset, mine also has lugwork. 'Tis very strange....

BTW do you guys mean 'ill' in good or shite?! Not that I give two shites....

Sick means 'ace' then in my language...

  • agreed that pistanators frame is wicked. fantastic tubing, and the dropouts are def better than those in the web pics. i'm just curious as to what is actually going on with these frames.

  • it looks good, but it's a pity that it is based on a road frame and not a pure track frame. (in our opinions, of course)

    +1

road geometry is really fucking good, er... on the road.

people like fixedwheelnut don't do all their million fixed audax miles on a tight frame with a foot high bb, they use road bikes.

the attitude that many have about a fixed wheel bike having to be a track bike is spastic.

    lots of you are spastics.

  • You're a scoper.

  • RPM
the attitude that many have about a fixed wheel bike having to be a track bike is spastic.

    good point...

After riding around on a track frame, I;ve deliberately set out to convert road bikes because i couldn;t be arsed with toe overlap when weaving through deadlock traffic. admittedly, that's been a bit of an arse regarding the bb on on a peugoet frame not so bad on an 80s raleigh racer.

  • People have been putting track ends on road frames and mtb frames for years. My only issue with this whole caper is if they sold it to you as an original track frame or something else.

  • If I wrong, I'm wrong, but the one's on the web site look like modified Coppi road frames model year 2000 ish.

  • Well i guess its time to add my piece to the discussion from the other side of the barricade.....and stirr some shit......the coppi frames are built brand new from tubes in the fausto coppi factories,be no means they are chopped and welded frames.......why are they road relaxed geometry???? becuz a lot of people are not purist like you,me,dale or whoever else.....i cant stand conversions ...they suck arse.........and the coppi is exactly what a non-purist want...........and if Ian or any bike shop wants to survive than he has to compromise to a certain degree to make the money....unless they are trackstar or king kog in NYC....anyway back to the coppis....what about surly's, all the off the pegs bikes????? the BB drop is much bigger on them.........does anyone says anything????no, not really.....

anyway part 1 : what i said is not becuz i work there and im trying to defend my employer im just stating my opinion on the whole thing...any questions???? feel free to ask before you start assuming and throw shit around.......
anyway part 2 :.....i dont like coppis, i dont like off the pegs, i dont like conversions....i dont like holes, i dont like brakes.....but i do understand why some people do.........

  • Cool. We have our answer. Cheers broken_77.

  • That's all we wanted to know! :)

I don't think anyone has any beef with BLB over these frames, aside from the fact that they didnt know the circumstances of the frames' creation.

  • i'm still confused, were those frames road frames from the factory gates that have track ends brazed/welded on afterwards?
they look nice frames though and FWIW condor pistas have cable guides on the top tube

  • aren't condor pistas designed as road-going bikes primarily though? I guess if they came direct from the coppi factory, BLB could have specified what they wanted to suit, as broken 77 put it, the non-purists. If that's the case BLB should make sure people know! I'd feel better about spending £350 on a frame made to a spec, makes it feel like you're almost buying custom. and the frame is sick, ill and generally wicked and bad, by the way. :)

..................................................^ err all of which mean good! ^
