  • Yes it is from the gumtree people - what's wrong with them? Do tell :D

Hmm speedway, will investigate - thanks

  • skin suits?!

  • those bikes make want to vomit, i wonder if they are made in some kind of dodgy bike meth lab?

and they are uglyer then a fat man in a xs skinsuit.

  • snowy_again skin suits?!

    remember the last lawsuit?

chop and flop, shit components, oviously targeting people with out any knoladge so they can take advantage of them.... look at the shinny colour scheme and read bars.... whait am i suposed to put 3 or 4 barrings in a bb cup,oh well.

  • Its just not very responsible selling bikes with only one brake, that and the fact that they brake (pedant alert, pun intended) the highway code or whatever law it is. They're cashing in on a trend. I've no problem with that, but its just not that safe.

Go and meet the Trixies, they'll help.

    ps. CC, you're right.

  • i know im right, it happens, im used to it

  • chris crash computer says no. singel speeds need 2 breaks, why is that bike wearing center pull breaks when it has braze ons for more effective cantilever ones? and its ugler then that mole on hippys arse.

Looks like mini v's to me, though that means it has got the worng lever on to operate them properly, either that or I can't see the little concentric cam addition that should be there to make it work.

Still no means of locking up the back wheel renders the bike illegal over here.

  • you might be right, i assumed that if the changed to that gawdawful bar/ stem/ lever combo they would have changed the caliper to go with the lever... muppets... i till dont see why you would no use the more effective cantiliver as you have the bosses

    fucking muppets

  • Bah I have been duped again :( I'm just looking for something to get me started, I'm quite creative so I could probably make it look OK.

  • That is an old mbt converted in a ugly way.

Consider the speedway thing but I would change the fork if you went for one of those frames to one with some rake also check out Jos, Roberto, fresh tripe. Never met fresh tripe man but has good reviews and Jos and Roberto will sort you out.

Def go the trixe chicks to get an idea and speak to the girls face to face and bike to bike check out thebike show podcast with them in. Come to polo on sundays as well and speak to some people have a look.

  • you can't use canti's with those lever's either.

    chris crash fucking muppets

    Roger that

  • nah scratch all that, jus do exactly as i say and you will go far....

  • Rapsac you can't use canti's with those lever's either.

    Roger that[/quote]

Yes you can, you can't use direct pull (i.e v-brake type cans) with those leavers*. The 26" wheels have been changed for 700cc wheels so cants will not beable to line up with the rims.**

*There are some mini v's that have the same cable pull.

** there are also one type of cant I have seen for this job of 700 in a 26" frame but they are not common at all.

EDIT: :) sorry to come across as an asshole but I am one. Just adding info in the only way I know how to. Rudely

  • I stand sit corrected.

yes but why change the wheel size.... i stand by my fucking muppets.

  • You used to be able to buy those really ugly canti converters for 26-700 convertions. Hideousness.

  • weird, i was about to go down and look at one these tonight...perhaps i won't bother now. the pull of £240 was strong, perhaps it'd be money better spent to stump up the cash for an off the peg as a first fixie? i've been looking into getting one for about 6 weeks now and just can't decide what to get, i read conflicting advice everywhere and have real trouble test riding anything as i'm massively tall and no one has anything!!

  • I sit on muppets with my wee ass.

  • shit. fake badly worded legalese lawsuit pending...

I don't really get what they're doing. They *seem *to have some very basic bike reassembling skills and some elbow grease, but at those prices you may as well go to a Greasbys auction, buy a bike for a fiver, strip off the parts you don't need and then Bob's your mother's brother. That way you might even have two working brakes.

Andyf, if you're reading this, it sums up our bike recycling business plan!

  • Well I am so glad I posted on here, thanks to all-ya.

How do I find these jos or roerto fellas? Google not helping.

  • Roberto stores.ebay.com/robertobicicletas

    Jos info here http://www.londonfgss.com/discussion/1527/tour-de-ville-second-attempt/

    freshtripe are on ebay too.

Also check out fixedgearlondon.com email them they do some cheaper bikes like conversions but they do them properly and all nice to boot.

  • p.s all these people it is worth contacting through the forum or email as they have many things which are not jet listed on ebay or their sites.

  • leperisland Well I am so glad I posted on here, thanks to all-ya.

click start new disscussion where it says whisper your comments to put either Jos or Roberoto

then put in the box wat you want to say.

FGL does some really nice builds, take a look at The Arcitect's bike in the names and faces thread as an example

@ red whats your budget and size? i might have some thing for you...

  • Not sure on forum 'form' and promoting your own listings so will say no more but I have a frame on ebay that may be of interest?

    :)

  • Hello!

Thanks for all the advice. In a way i don't have a budget in the sense I will always save up to get something if it absolutely fits the bill.BUT I don't want it nicked right away - so I don't want anything too flashy. I more want to go down the road of something that looks well wicked because I have got it sprayed / used nice parts / put dumb shit on it - I like the lo-fi retro feel. I don't know what that costs :-/
