It could mean:

i) I'd prefer you to level your criticism at me face to face as I'm more articulate verbally.
ii) Perhaps if you met me you'd realise how deeply your insults cut me, by reading my non-verbal language.
iii) Why don't we meet in a more private arena and thrash out our differences.
iv) I get immense sexual pleasure from feeling the hot breath of someone in my ear telling me what a dirty fucking bitch I am.
v) Possibly the fact that you make defammatory remarks about my person could be read as an encoded request just to meet up and have a drink.
vi) The way you insult me sounds like a veiled threat of violence, but that's going to be rendered impotent unless you get within arm's length of me.
