Yeah I was looking at getting some things white too.
Maybe we could splinter off into groups and get two runs going??Late to the game but better late than never!
How do you reckon they'd go about painitng a chainset? Would they just tape off the teeth??

you mean large metal flake??
i was going to get the roof of a car painted like this (see below) but it's a pain. basically you need a spray gun with extra large holes in the nozzle to allow the flakes to come out, then you need heaps of clear coat layer and sanding in between, to cut it back to a smooth finish.
since the introduction of pearlescent paint, the use of metal flake has declined, as you can get an equally stunning finish with these (but it's a lot finer)

This is going to be quite cheap, non? I'd throw in my Fuji for a quick coat.
Would one of you fine, helpful people be willing to show me how to strip the bottom bracket and headset?

Max Hi Jon,
Yep familiar with RAL, I need RAL 6013 (reed green - as used by Dialled Bikes on the Love/Hate etc) but trying to find someone who will supply just a few kilos at a reasonable price is a bit tricky - need someone like this guy but in the UK:
I know for a fact that Mercian and Bob Jackson do a colour like that.... BJ have more colour options than Mercian if you ask them

Oooh...this is a great idea; I'd be up for getting a beater frame done in powder blue if its OK to hijack one of the lists?
Any idea when this is planned for as I have got to remove a particularly stubborn BB and siezed seatpost first...
Hurrah for economies of scale

The problem with Powder Blue is that You'll all end up looking like you ride On-One Pompinos!! ;-)

How many frames will they accept on a '£45 one colour' job? I've got a frame and a few parts that need spraying.

I know good things take time but have we come to any conclusions regarding who, when and what??
Surely they'll see us from a mile off regarding the £45 per lot. We've got about 4 frames and a trailer load of parts...

Max, I am not so sure Armourtex carry all those colours, when the fella in the workshop showed me his chart there didn't seem to be anything like that range, although maybe they can order in colours if they need ?
Might be worth ringing to check.

I think they might think you are taking the piss with 4 frames and a king size box of parts, perhaps a couple of frames and a few crank sets, rims and brake levers might be reasonable for £40, after all it will work out around a tenner each (or even less).
-
• #47
bassically i asked them and its £45 minimum, they will then judge how much work it is and charge you accordinngly, its still cheaoer as you don't each have to pay the starting fee of £45

They were a little itchy when I asked them about 2 frames 3 pairs of forks, some bars and my chainset.
Took a lot of convincing that they were acually all mine. -

Hi Tynan, - you're spot on, they have a very limited range hence my earlier post about Ral 2013. There are big industrial powder coaters that have much larger ranges but they won't have Armourtex's experience with masking frames etc or take as much care I think...
So...
