I worked out that the poll was being done by a GET request, which is a plain URL, and that it only uses the cookies to prevent duplicates. So I put an image in every page on LGFSS and the URL of that is the voting URL, and every visitor, guest or member that has come here since has voted.

Yep, same thought, I when I cycle off to the pub to get pissed up on booze, then come home - on the pavement all the way - smelling of cheap women and biscuits (?) I am not doing it to be part of some fucking movement.

Same shit, presented as an open question, one view expressed, plainly no research, finished off with a poll that offers the opportunity to either agree with this wanker's fixed views or choose one of the sarcastic and obviously mocking alternatives.
I do not exaggerate when I say the article in the Mail (see the Fixed gears in the Mail thread) is a more balanced piece of writing, the MAIL for god's sake !
This guy is doing nothing other than spreading more unneeded ill feeling about cyclists.

Thanks for your interest and your tech skills that made this the most voted on survey ever for TreeHugger. Neat trick!
In my own defence, I would like to note:
a) I am a cyclist and bike year round, mainly on a road bike but in winter in snow on a mountain bike. Bikes are my main mode of transportation, including a 4500 km ride from Toronto to Vancouver.
b) The "movement" I talk about is to gain rights for cyclists to have safe bike lanes, educated drivers and more cyclists year round. it is a battle here.
c) it was not an article, it is a survey, a question. I could have phrased the intro a little better and have been a little more balanced, and understood the significance of separating the issue of the fixed gear and the brakes. I do now. I perhaps was made more concerned because we have ice and snow on the road, the bike lanes are full of snow, we are pushed out into narrower lanes and reaction time and stopping distance is critical.
