  • TheBrick(Tommy) I am sure vans or airwalks will see the opertunity soon enough.

Yep. They need to make em: narrow, none too grippy around the toe, sort of smooth, and they need to make em stiff.

  • i think these would be suitable for most clips n straps wearers?

  • I have about 5 diff pairs of Nike ACG Okwahn. Sole is virtually smooth and made from slightly tacky rubber compound a la rock climbing shoes and a very slim shape toe with a rubber 'bumper'. The sole unit is much stiffer than an average pair of trainers too.

  • Ha ha! D'oh it always pays to read the date of the original post

    dark!

  • runcible rakan lpg im the other way round, i know from experience that my feet just unclip if i come off, but riding with clips and straps im scared my feet will never come out.

Yeah thats a true story. Whenever I crashed in spds I was magically disconnected from the bike. Not so with clips&straps.

Last week my bag strap got caught round a recycling skip. Within about a hundredth of a second I was slammed into the side of the skip and then into the ground, still nicely attatched to my bike :D

  • yeah, but that 'magical disconnection' also occurs when riding behind a bus down pentonville road in the rain. not fun. went straight back to clips and straps and won't look back.

  • .

  • .

  • adoubletap .

Cheers! Just ordered some black ones.

  • hassanr yeah, but that 'magical disconnection' also occurs when riding behind a bus down pentonville road in the rain. not fun. went straight back to clips and straps and won't look back.

Yep, same reason I switched ;)

  • Except when it's pissy wet and I can't seem to flick the pedal up for, like, sometimes half a dozen rotations.
Then I think clipless must be a damn sight easier.
But then I come to my senses and it's all fine.

  • Tiger Runners.

but really anything small with a low profile sole and leather outer.

  • lpg I want clip-pedal shoes but i'm so scared of being attached to my bike in a crash. For some reason, tight-as-you-like straps on me don't have the same effect (?). I'm sure someone could fit a cleat to some trainers, though. Sort of, stick it on there ...

    clip pedal shoes?

    how embarassing.

  • O how times change. clipless forever!:)

  • Jeez, don't you people read the Mail On Sunday? SPDs with clips and straps is the only way to go...

  • ha, soon after I wrote this thread, I got given some crank bros candy pedals, got some spd shoes and have been happy with them ever since. I'd forgotten how much easier they make pedalling.

clips and straps ain't for me

  • That's so 2007. Real patriots use a neatly chiseled block of roast beef as a pedal with woven st. george cross flags as straps.

  • Adidas Stan Smith £38 @ Decathlon

  • i just switched to clips and trainers so i can do mad skilz.

however, it is much much less comfortable than the cleats and MTB shoes i used before, and all stars - echoing rob - are really wobbly and hurt. i have this other pair of all stars with arch support and are more rigid. much easier. am slowly getting used to it.

  • just got these... nice soles for that nobbly bit to get your foot into the clip. £15 on the 'bay

  • I hope no-one minds if I drag this one from the depths...

I really need another pair of ACG Okwhan but can't find any in my size (whisper anyone looking for some size 8 shoud check ePay now, £40 for the reccent issue all-grey ones ... adoubletap?).

So... does anyone know what the name/number of that trainer shop on Behtnal Green Road is, please?

  • Nice one, Skully... So RPM wasn't born wearing a pair of Sidis after all? ;]

Think that place on BGR is long gone...

  • skully can't, but someone should totally buy my vintage black and white size 42 braided leather cycling shoes with proper cleats designed for clips and straps.
they even say vigorelli- designed as track shoes and so styling that your mum would hate them.
    unless shes's
