johnny h according to my pal in London Firebrigade, Islington fire station was burglared in november and the tool they use for cutting people out of cars was nicked.
hence all the cut bars, locks, poles etc in the norf region.watch out folks
Yeah, I have actually seen one of those cutters in action and it is frightening. A mate of mine who works in the actions unit of an NGO helped me out when I lost the keys to my bike, and it was locked up outside a pub. He brought along some cutters, we rocked up and they went through a kickass Kyrptonite lock in 4 seconds.
Also, worryingly, no-one in the pub garden even challenged us (although I had photos of the bike elsewhere to show it was mine, in the hope that someone would)

aaron.stevenson@ucl.ac.ukI am a copper and I have reported it, but with the available evidence, the specialist knowledge required to identify it and the amount of emergencies the police (especially in Lambeth) deal with, you guys would be better placed to spot it.
If it gets offered for sale and you buy it then I see you riding it, I may assume you are the one who stole it, you REALLY don't want that. Please spread the word too.
Thanks,
Aaron

That comment was meant to mean, I and my friend will be actively seeking it out when we see a single speeder or fixed wheeler and stopping people if we think we see it, not just running round like mercenaries. So, if you do think it's that wheel, it would be better to tell me, I am considering a reward.
It's not that the police don't give a fuck (some have become entirley disillusioned and unfortunately can give that impression) its that the amount of evidence to go on is unfortunately usually so low that there really is nothing to go on. No police officer like thieves, they hate them, they want to catch them. They should in all honesty look at available CCTV which from what I've read seems to be lacking unfortunately.
I have to say that I am a bit disappointed at the hostility I have received, besides hippy and rpm. I would have thought the community spirit that is usually strong between fixed wheelers would have seen more support.

but that comment was (certainly seen by some people as) deliberately accusatory and threatening.

First they came for the Arrospok guy - and I said nothing.
Then they came after the po-po, and I said nothing.
Then they came for me - and there was no-one left to help me!
stevo - good luck with that - I've been looking for my nicked self-built wheel... my first wheel... (sob!) -
