asm Hmmm i think a RAM upgrade might be necessary for my macbook. Had it for a year now and it's been absolutely brilliant, but my current garageband compositions are stretching the RAM to the very limit... I think i might need to learn how to use some other sequencing/composing software :(.

Also does anyone know if it's possible to export songs from garageband in anything other than AIFF? The loss of quality from playing back in garageband to the export is laughable and i can't find any way whatsoever to change the export settings :(

are you sure? AIFF (pros swear by it, along with SD2 and WAV) can be full on umcompressed quality it can go up to 192kHz/24bit so i guess it's your settings. you can think of upgrading to logic but it's just going to make your macbook feel even more sluggish and it's not as easy to use (by quite a fair amount) which depending what you do may not be necessary.
